    Looks like soft maple and that splits super easy. Make some of the best kindling to when cut into about 1" pieces. Doesn't burn as long as hard maple but still burns great and gives good coals too.

    I'd rather have soft maple to burn in January than eastern white pine.

    I had to winch,cut and carry mine out of a frozen swamp in February so forgive the lack of sympathy for all the work you've had to do loading and unloading a pickup truck. LOL
