I posted this on another forum and cleaned it up a bit. This really made me mad. Glad he didn't get out. Should have got his plate number but was too mad to think. People like this guy makes me sick. Sorry for the rant but this kind of stuff really gets my blood boiling. I'm no animal rights activist by no means but this just plain cruelty. here is what I posted without the profanity.

Could have got in a fight yesterday afternoon, I was on the bike behind an idiot with a dog in the bed of the truck. we stopped at the red light and this clown takes off and flys around the corner. he throws the poor dog out on the road in front of me. I stop and the poor dog is having trouble getting up. This sorry creep pulls over about 50 yards from where the dog hits and never gets out. he waits on the dog to come back to him. The poor thing limps back to the truck.
I pull up next to the stupid lookin idiot and yell You stupid dumbutt, get out and let me bounce your skinny butt off the pavement and watch you get up. creep wouldn't even look at me. I was ready to beat his butt. This idiot looked like he came straight from the moonshine still. Some crackhead chick was in the truck with him, she was scared to death.
I probably used a lot more explitives than I posted, that made me mad, especially when he pulled over and made the dog come to him. Guess it's a good thing he did ignore me, I would have probably hurt the stupid moron bad. I'd like to see idiots like that done the same way, I'd throw his butt out of my truck and watch him limp back and see how he likes it.
    Sorry rant over.

Stories like those make me feel ill. I took in a poor abused dog who lived to be 17. It took her two years to be trusting. After that she lived a long happy life. All seven pounds of her!

Someone dumped my dog on me, I didn't really want a dog at the time but didn't have the heart to take her to the pound. she was about six weeks old then. almost two years old now. SANY0605.JPG SANY0785.JPG SANY1068.JPG

A coworker told me a very similar story once.....this must happen more than we think, which is awful...it is astounding the number of idiots there are out there.

Not entirely related but, am I the only one that absolutely hates seeing people driving around town with the dogs on their lap? And I mean the drivers lap here.

We have a pitbull that my son and a couple of girls "Liberated" one night! It was chained to a tree in a yard with no collar, no shade, no water. The chain was wearing into her neck and was all raw. Every day she thanks us!:)

Guess I have to tell our story now.

Let me start off by saying, we have 8 dogs. None of them live outdoors. They love being out but they sleep in the house.

In January AuntJoe got involved in a dog rescue organization. A transport was moving 6 dogs from N. Carolina to a couple different places. We met her January 25th in Harrisburg and took 3 of them.

From left to right are: Cubby, Bella and Ziva.

    P1010627.JPG

At this point they are absolutely terrified of people. Walking into that enclosure would produce some ear-piercing screams and howls. It was horrible. For 2 weeks we couldn't get anywhere near them. To let them out we had to open the door and walk away. Getting them back in the house the first few nights was like trying to herd cattle into the chute. After those first nights they started following the rest of the dogs in but only if we weren't standing too close to the door.

Ziva, after about 2 weeks, was the first one to shed her fear and now she can be a PITA because she' always at your feet. Don't get me wrong, that's a good thing. We're trying to find her a permanent home now.

Cubby and Bella, who are all but inseparable, are beginning to come around. This one is last week. You can almost see the fear in her but she doesn't scream or try to run away. She tolerates the occasional touch but would rather be somewhere else.

    P1010632.JPG

And this is this morning with Bella and Cubby together. They could easily move away but they choose to allow the touch and light petting.

    P1010651.JPG

We don't really know what they are. We were told Australian Shepard but only Ziva has any resemblance to one. Cubby looks to have a bit of St Bernard in him but we don't really know. We're actually thinking of keeping him. Our 2 oldest dogs are 14 and 15 so they don't have too many years left.

Who wants Bella when she is ready? :) j/k

I have no tolerance for abuse of animals. Most of them deserve more consideration and love than most humans I know. SS, I am glad he ignored you too, because I think I know how it made you feel and you probably would have been the one arrested for beating the crap out of this guy, despite the fact that that is exactly what needs to happen to him.

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY by Janine Allen

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today. Sometimes the overworked shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn’t feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone’s life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.

I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven’t walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

    I rescued a human today.

I gotta admit, I was gonna pass on clicking on this thread for fear of a sob story and/or pics, but I'm glad I did. 100 points to both of you. Our dogs are rescues and have created a big soft spot in our hearts for dogs. I'm sure I'm not the only one that changes the channel when the Sarah McClaughalan commercial comes on.:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Good for you Joe! Every dog we have had the pleasure and company of has been a rescue. They seem to know that they have been rescued and love you all the more. My Oggie of 14 years died in November. I was so heart broken I couldn't function, until we got Buddy! Here is my beloved Oggie.

My parents got a Saint Bernard from the animal shelter a few months ago to replace an old dog that his time was up....the other dog was very sad until then. I don't know the entire background on her other than she was mis treated. All this 90lb dog wants is loved lol. My kids can love on her for hours!

Here's my 40lb youngest (4) leading the big 90lb hunk last weekend while my parents were gone away. Kinda funny lol.

I don't like animal abuse either. If you feel the need to mis treat something, mis treat something that can fight back!

Just an FYI, in many states it's illegal to have a loose dog in the open bed of a truck.

Illegal here in Ma. I would rather see a dog in the passenger compartment with his nose out the window and ears flapping in the breeze.

There are some great stories here. We don't have a dog but we did get a kitten last year that was born from a feral mom that was captured by the rescue coalition. I often think of where she could have been on the cold nights of this winter or if she would have even made it this far had the mom not been taken in.

Stihl sawing, maybe it sunk into that numbskulls head.

Chief, sorry about the passing of Oggie. I know how much he meant too you. I'm glad Buddy made his way into your life.

It's a shame people feel the need to beat up on animals that are helpless.

    I feel the same way.
Amen... If you feel that big and bad? Then pick on someone your own size.

Here is my buddy Oscar. He passed 1.5 yrs ago. Still miss him. He did everything with me. Was in about 95% of every pic I took. Even if it was just his tail. He was there.

We lost our almost 16 yr old Jack Russell last October....wife said "no more dogs" as the loss of our Mindy was hard on all of us.

Long story short that didn't last as she started going to the local shelter every several days and fell in love with another Jack Russell that looked like our Mindy.....so we got her.

We named her Chloe. She was definitely abused because she was TERRIFIED of me for MONTHS. We got her Thanksgiving week and she is JUST NOW coming around to me. Poor thing was terrified of men......

Anyway, she's always on the couch by the fireplace with me.......goes wherever I go in the truck, and she's showing a lot of love for her new home......

I hope you rattled that guys cage a little, SS!
