I had a "chromed" bar on my 350 at one time. In recent years, I have managed to destroy my bars before I can wear all the paint off of them.

Well some still have most of the base coat of paint, but the lettering is the first thing to go.

That's just where it presses and wears as you undercut. Chain too loose wears the heel of the bar.

I just use canola oil. According to some, it bakes on and gums up. That's why the letters stay on the bar. Simple.

Yesterday I go to start the Old Girl. She no start. Silly me, the ignition is off. Even though I have started that tractor a gazillion times, every once in awhile, I will forget to turn on the ignition switch. (For reference, these old 8Ns have an ignition switch at the dash and a starter switch at the shifter).

got a little car due to mileage , been a very very long time since i had anything with a console shift -keep trying to put it in gear with windshield wiper stalk, getting better though ( shiftable automatic.) Pretty soon the bugs will be gone and it won't such a smeared mess when I screw up.

I did that often when I stopped driving my stick. You would beat the transmission and let off the gas just to realize it had shifted on its on and you have to ease back into the gas and keep going. Or the one that lasted way longer than the Phantom upshift was the quick or sometimes panic stop where you brake with 2 feet. One on the ghost clutch and one on the actual brake.

We had "chainsaw training" at work a few years ago and the instructor put a new chain on in the middle of class and hands me the saw.... Of course I look down and ask him did you do this on purpose to make sure we are paying attention or? He had it on backwards and proceeded to yell at me and argue that it was right!!!:picard: I said here try it out and after a few embarrassing try's to cut, old cedar poles none the less he grumbled and agreed with me

Floor stomping, That used to drive the ex crazy when she was driving. At the time I was averaging 100k a year in trucks all stick- so when ever coming up to a light left foot automatically went for the clutch.

Yes, I've seen champion plugs fail like this as well. I won't use them unless that's the only option. I relegate champion plugs to the same disregard as fram oil filters and Pennzoil oil. That would be Junk.

    Nice easy fix though clemsonfor
That's the first mod I do to all Polaris machines that come with champion plugs. NGK and denso are mostly what I use. I'll use Bosch on some of my German engines though.

That's better than when I was driving Dad's straight 6, 5spd 95 F-150 with dad to Utah to pick up my brother from grad school. I had to stop after cruising for a long time on the interstate in 5th gear. Well, I forgot to shift out of 5th when attempting to accelerate after the toll booth. :loco: . Those dual tanks on a 2wd six stick could go a lotta miles before stopping for gas.
. Trying to go from a stop in 5th great doesn't work. Yeah, those 4.9's have great torque, but not THAT much.

Dad and I had a good laugh over that.

Been there done that. I usually caught it before I stalled though. Give gas grab first and go.

I obviously went to Clemson!!! But anyway it's in the piedmont of the state, in the foothills of the moutains. It's the second largest state University in the state, so you get students from all over the state. This was 15 years ago so standard shifts were still more common. There were more than one stoplight or stopsighn on a pretty good incline. I learned pretty quick to stay WAY back from cars at those certain intersections as it was most kids first time driving a stick in the hills, and some I don't think ever grasped that dance between clutch and gas and some just were not capable of doing it without significant roll back or slipping the clutch. I grew up in flat land but putting boats in and out on ramps with a stick you learn how to grab the gears fast, esp when there is an end to that ramp at low tide!!

I like the ranger. But that 2.3 is low on power. Runs forever aND great mpg.

A fun one ...don't laugh was the geo metro I drove as a second car in high school. Got amazing mpg and it was fun to drive. Like a 4 wheeler really. Haha.
