For about 6 to 12 months my 011 has not been working. I used it last fine then went to use it again and it was acting like a bad coil or something .

My compression gauge has gone kaput so I didn't try it. I swapped carbs (off a parts saw that was running till it was straight gassed...not by me)on it pretty sure that was not it sine it wouldn't really run of I put gas in carb.

I tried on and off over the months but with so much other stuff to do and several more working saws I didNT bother. I always ended up frustrated so I would stop. I am not sure why I never checked the simple things...I guess I assume they almost never go bad??:hair:

So today after I kind of stopped splitting and stacking I grabbed it to mess with it. Fueled it up started to pull cord. It sounded like it had an air leak and no compression. So I pulled the plug boot and the ceramic was just spinning!! it was would pull up and down, no wonder it sounded like there was blow by!!. Grabbed a plug out of the other cylinder and was good to go.!! GlaD too I like that saw for one handed work and for small stuff as it is pretty torquey for its size.

And a pic, but it's not like you can see much? 20170917_175646.jpg 20170917_175705.jpg 20170917_175712.jpg

Sometimes the simple things will get you.
No fire without a spark, :) cool you figured out the problem:thumbs:
I was having trouble with my 55 one time, I thought I had it running good then it just quit, after I pulled and pulled and pulled, I finally figured out it was out of gas :headbang:

I had trouble with Champion plugs this winter in a snowmobile.
The center electrode came loose. Sled was only running on one cylinder. Pulled the plug to check it and the gap was HUGE. I stuck a new one in and good to go. Little while later it did it again. Other plug...threw a new one in and good to go. So now, out of spares, I stop at a local Polaris dealer in Caribou to grab a couple and he tells me he doesn't stock Champion.
Seriously? All Polaris' run Champions. :hair:

"Nope! Sent them all back...The electrodes are coming loose in them...We only sell NGK's now..."

This champion was in it when I bought it like 3 years ago. It now has a Bosh in it which I prefer in my Swedish and German saws. I run champions in my OMC boat motors, and NGK in my Honda ATV and my Toyota SUVs.

lmao I was a bit lazy getting my snowblower into summer storage this year. Finally got around to it, and when I tried to start it to run the E10 fuel out of it, it wouldnt stay running. I was pizzed at myself thinking the carb was crapped up....only to realize once I took the carb out that there was no fuel in the bowl

I'd have second thoughts about using champions in a potato gun.

More than once I've seen them create headaches!

Right there with ya man...Champions ain't worth the package they come in. I can't tell you how many times people drug stuff into the shop with no starts and drivability problems, fixed by simply sending the Champions to the garbage dumpster and installing NGK

My Grandfather once took a saw back to the shop because it would not cut worth an axe. As soon as the dealer put the saw chain on so that it was going forward, it cut a lot better. My Grandfather felt like an idiot...

I do it most often when I put chain on the bar and swap it upside down, on purpose to get even wear...not putting enough thought about it and what it looks like flipped :wacky::headbang:

When I bought my saw they gave it to me with the chain on backwards. I bet it's on purpose by whomever sets them up to see who the idiots are that have to come back.

And I only knew because I was the idiot that brought my first saw that was given to me to a friend because it wouldn't cut with the chain backwards!

I hate how the lettering is upside down so that is not something I do. It is hard to believe as frugal as I am, but for me that just looks too silly to do. But in my defense I use the top of my bar almost as much as the bottom of it. Like felling, I will use the bottom of the bar to make my notch, but almost never walk around to the other side of the tree, instead I'll just use the top of the bar to make my back cut. Of course with limbing and topping, the split is 50/50 between the top and the bottom anyway otherwise the chain will get pinched a lot.

A buddy texted me last weekend. "Splitter engine is acting funny, runs fine, then stumbles and stalls but will re-start immediately." I automatically think "coil", but suggest a new spark plug first...bingo! The old Tecumseh is running like a champ after new plug. KISS theory validated once again.

Okay...you guys are going to FOTMASM on this one; which is (Fly out to Maine and shoot me)...and considering mashing a chainsaw with a skidder, driving over another with a bulldozer, mashing another by dropping a tree onto it, rolling my tractor over...well you get the idea, this was DUMB.

I had a problem on my bulldozer, had a guy fix it, then put everything back and ran it. But it developed a problem. After it ran awhile the reverser would heat up, the clutches would slip and it would not even move. Let it cool down and it was a brand new tractor again. Interesting.......

I went online, I looked at the book, I reread the book...nothing. I even went and pulled the engine, checked the reverser for pressures, changed every fluid and filter in it...again nothing. Then I read the service manual again...a paragraph on reverser lube oil jumped at me. "After traveling back out of the cooler, the oil passes through the regulating valve, through the restricting orifice and then sprays onto the clutches to cool them".

Yep, it was that simple. When I had my radiator hole fixed I inadvertently swapped the in and out hoses going to the reverser oil cooler which is part of the radiator. That made a bit of a difference.

I still think I will add an after market oil cooler just because the current one is pretty darn small. The oil still gets pretty warm after you run it all day and a oil cooler is $71 and a clutch pack kit is $579. Still I felt pretty dumb. Yep KISS!

That either means you do not own a gun, or flights are expensive. :)

One VERY hard lesson I have learned is to never laugh at someone else's foolish mistakes. I did that one time on the railroad when a fellow Supervisor drove over some wheel chocks and puts his locomotives on the ground. I kind of laughed, but a week later my crew did the same thing.
