Duct work is done, complete with a 7" ( the round pipe on the left) run back to the cold air return for the furnace. Im hoping to pump a little more of the heat from the stove into the rest of the house. The boxing in of said duct work is done. Drywall starts tomorrow morning.

Drywall boarding and the first round of taping is done. Still need to put on the corner beads and put on a couple more layers of mud. It is coming along though.

I dont mind the actual drywall job itself, but a good taping/mudding job is an art form, and Im no artist. My best friend is a drywall taper and he still does the odd boarding job. Ill be completely honest here and admit it was all him. I helped a bit, but sometimes its just best to leave certain things to the professionals. We (mostly he) boarded and taped the whole thing in about 3 hours. Its still going to take a week to 10 days before its ready for paint. He'll come back 3 or 4 more times before sanding to put more mud on. In the mean time, I can go buy whatever lights Im going to put in and get them wired. I can also get the new drop ceiling stuff bought and brought home. Im hoping to have the room itself absolutely complete in 2 weeks, and for me, thats a realistic time frame.

I just ran into my "go to" drywall guy last week....he is now officially done with all/any sort of work. (He was approved for 100% disability due to agent orange exposure and complications from the 60's.....)

Pretty much done the wood stove room now. New floor tiles, new ceiling tiles, new paint, new LED lighting with dimmers, new trim.....almost new everything. I had to rip out part of the new bulkhead and redo it due to....you guessed it. Clearance issues. No problem with the stove pipe this time...but the height to the top of the stove was 1.5" too low for Canadian WETT specs. You can see the step I had to build in it, in the second picture. The only reason I was able to get it high enough was because I got fed up with it, put a T on the end of a 2x4, put that on my railway jack, and "adjusted" the duct up by 4 1/2 inches. :) Oh well....anything worth doing is worth doing again the right way...right ? LOL.

Sorry for the way the pictures are. The basement is still jammed right full of stuff and this is the widest angle I can get right now. The second pic is of the corner where my easy chair is going once this disaster zone is cleaned up a bit.

That long run before the 90 bend is really going to help draft.

It's not that cool out tonight. I actually had to stick a propane torch in the pipe to get things flowing in the right direction before lighting the fire. :) It's more or less the same setup that I had before with my old stove. Once the weather cooled down, the draft was great.

Its finally complete ! YAY ! I put the fresh air intake in today, installed a new smoke/CO detector, put my fire extinguisher back on the wall, and put the screws in the flu. I even cleaned up the rest of the basement. LOL. Inspector comes tomorrow. I'll send the paperwork off the to the insurance company, and then kick back and enjoy the heat all winter. :drunk:

Yes. Its a little barren right now. My wood rack will take care of the end table part. I have plans of a recliner of some sort in the near future. I hope to put a 60" pull down projector screen on that bulkhead and have a small tv projector on the wall behind where the chair is. All in good time. :)

A little mini fridge will be in order; perhaps close enough to the recliner chair so that you don't have to get up to refresh your tasty beverage.

Glad you worked it out without a major mess up. Happy heating.
