I'd do that, And I can get plenty from my Gov source here, But I'm sure one of neighbors would complain, then the code official, then taxation, then BULS#!T, the etc….
limited space was why I built my woodshed the way I did. I built a new fence between my property and the neighbor's, and took advantage of the strip of wasted land between my driveway and the fence line and used it to build a long narrow woodshed.
We have actuall 82" 2*4's in the pallets. I use them all the time there the bottom runners so I just strip them off the bottoms and store them for later use.
I'd run the floor joists and floor boards 90º from that shown for less cutting, less hardware, maybe more strength even though as shown might be more pleasing to the eye ( all joists N/S rather than the mix and floorboards E/W )
I agree after this wintet and tarps and the rest I am building one too. Think it will be 8'×24' or so. Using old crossarms and some metal roofing my brother in law had I should be into it for less than $100.
Dug some holes yesterday, (ground breaking) for my wood shed. Was a nice day and I figured I'd get a jump start on the process, I want to put my seasoned wood it in for next winter early because I have a driveway full of 2017 oak and hickory that need to be S.S. Had the boys out enjoying the day also, The old boy was pretty spry yesterday, the corgi keeps him busy, he's doing OK for 13 but the arthritis gets to him.
No concrete floor in my shed Dave, that concrete you see is just a curb along the edge of the driveway I poured to help reinforce the ashpalt where I cut it back a bit, I actually just have drainage rocks in the floor inside the shed. Anyway, nice to see you getting started,,, keep posting pictures so we can watch the progress.
I found and posted a short video clip of what my woodshed looked like when I just started it. You can see there doesn't really look like a lot of actual room for the wood between the back of the shed (the fence line) and the driveway, but it was enough for two rows of splits, and that's all I needed. Edit: I adding another video of the completed shed for comparison.
I'm not in Alaska but our township is quite lenient as far as what you can do on your own property. Might be because they only have 6 employees and they're all part time. The township office is open 3 days a week from 8:00-12:00. We talked to the "supervisor" right after we moved in. Asked him about building restrictions and/or permits. His response: " As long as you aren't encroaching on a neighboring property or building a Taj Mahal, we don't care." My kinda place.
It was! but not to deep, We need many many days of sub freezing temps to "keep the ground" frozen. We have a high water table. I chipped through it and made some holes. Got 6 holes dug for the posts, Building roof Trusses for the shed now.
We have a very high water table here too Dave! My 1st well was only 8 feet deep and we used that for over 15 years.. Cranberry bogs need lots of water and why there are so many here..
