So, as usual, my season ending stove cleaning has become my season starting stove cleaning! I hate to give it that good cleaning if I might need to fire it up again. I replaced the air exchange scraper rod. It comes without hardware, so I needed to find two bolts, one before the scraper, and one after. No big deal. I pulled all the motors out and hit them with the air compressor, so I needed to replace the exhaust fan gasket. The inside perimeter was too big, so I had to cut it down about a 1/4 inch. Pulled out the leaf blower, pipes are clean as new. Everything is greased and ready to go. Natural it is unseasonably warm today, in the eighties, so I wont be firing it up! My back hurts, and I look like a coal miner. It better be cold this winter.

I waited one year and found rust already forming and the ash lining the stove damp . Now at the end of the season I capped off the vent , go right through the stove , touch up inside with Rust-Oleum and add Damprid .

Did my preseason cleaning last week and found rust in my burn pot/baffle....nothing a wire wheel and running it for an hour couldn't solve
Was 75 outside and I'm the only fool for miles with a pellet stove running in the driveway!

Hey does anyone have a trick or know of a way to cut Selkirk pipe to size? I need to reduce my horizontal run by about 3 "

I don't think they recommend cutting or modding the pipe. Don't they make an adjustable piece?

They do but IIRC it's minimum it still too long. I think its a 12" piece that adjusts down to 8 on a straight run, I have one between my stove adapter and the first elbow (45)

You might be able to trim that one down. The ID and OD of that piece is made to slip inside one and other. Your standard pipe has the same ID/OD and won't slip together. It would require special dies to fab the end joints to mod the pipe itself.

I've trimmed an inch off the Pellet vent pro adjustable piece with out an issue. Just had to smooth off all the burrs from cutting it(used a die grinder) so it would slip back together easily. Assume the Selkirk would be the same??
