My wife and I both get credit card offers many times each week They go right into the trash unopened. We take our trash to the dump. As we back away from it, some giant machine with huge metal wheels runs over it, By nightfall, it is covered over with dirt. I would prefer not to get those offers but it is money for the post office and also for the paper industry.

That's the way to go. The CC company pays for both directions and the post office gets paid twice. But I do it a little differently. I use a black marker (not a sharpie) and in big block letters I write: "NO THANK YOU" across the application.
Exactly what I do. Any junk mail I get that has a prepaid envelope for return goes right back in the mail.
