I've seen some evidence of the borer around here very recently, but very little. Even though the wood was only 15-20 miles up the road (much less as the crow flies) I'm holding out hope that science can figure out how to stop this thing before it decimates the ash around here. In some areas of the Berkshires - particularly in my town, ash accounts for so much of the forest we'd be bald without it. There's even an Ashmere Lake. Going to be sad when they all die, and I don't want to advance the spread at all if I can help it. I've loved the b-body for a long time, too. First car was an '85, had a '77, an '84, an '86 with a hopped up 350 that got t-boned before its second oil change, and cared for my mother's and wife's '94 9C1s before one rotted away (with 200k+) and the other left as a trade in after the wife almost rolled it in the winter and insisted on 4wd. Fun cars in all their different forms.
If everyone was as conscience about moving wood there wouldn't be a problem. I was lucky enough to be at "ground zero" when the 94-6 SS and caprices were popular. Several clubs, innovator's and "dealer"were local. In high school I could pack 12 people in the car! Snowboards and skis all fit in the humungo trunk!shift kit with snow tires...chirping 3rd at 80mph They really are great cars in all their forms!
