16 degrees and sunshine. The weather guessers are calling for some bad winter juju hammering us this weekend into monday..Dang it!!
Chunked a mix of everything in the woodshed at the owb last nite and she's still singing, a comfy 72 in here.
Headed out to the big woods today, a couple hours of brush busting and I'll be at "The Big Windsheer Ridge". There must be an acre and a half of blowdowns up there. Lots-o-firewood.
You guys have a good day, work/play safe. I hope this finds you well. Peace.

9 PM and it is 0F here. Low is supposed to be 5F. Have a feeling we still have a way to go tonight. Son arriving with a trailer full of stuff at 3 AM. Not looking forward to the unload. The house will be frozen. He leaves tomorrow, so it is unload when he arrives, then he eats, then to bed, then gets up and leaves. He has an 8 hour drive tomorrow, after an 8 hour drive this evening, so the unloading gets done when he arrives. Fun and games. I'm trying to get the house nice and warm now, so it won't have too far to recover after we unload.
Found a downed, very dry 6 inch Ironwood this afternoon. It's now in the house warming up.

Monday night the low is forecast to be -20, Tuesday -21 so we'll be burning Sugar Maple & Beech. That should take care of most of our better wood we'll burn this winter.

We are about to get pounded (speaking for our area) .....High right now is about 25 for today. All down here for the next 3 days tomorrows high is forecasted for 8 degrees.... I'm moving some heavy wood up to the house as soon as it gets light. Its already spittin' in the air.

We got to 1° overnight. Should not be this cold for the 1st of March. The stove is crying for mercy. Got up to reload at 3am and stuffed it. At 7 there was a load of coals and the house was 64°. I put in tow splits and left the air open to burn up the coals. I gotta try to insulate more. I did see this new process where they drill through the sheathing and inject foam. It expands and compresses the old fiberglass insulation. Supposed to be good. I'm wondering about the price, though. With 2"x4" outside walls, how good can I get it to be?

Right where I want to be.
    Dennis has had it done.
Someone else too, but I don't remember who.
You'll never regret insulating. It pays back every day, all year long.

Very true indeed. I need to improve the insulation in the attic spaces in the house. And the camp, for that matter. But my bank account is saying UGH! with two pieces of property.

Yup… one property can be more than enough of a load… especially in a winter like this one.

10° on the back porch this morning. Large chunks of White Ash and a few small Maple going in the Wood Gun. We received a few inches of snow last night. I have not been out yet to get a close look at it. Looks like just enough to be a P.I.A. and have to clean it up on the walks, steps, porches, etc. Oh well, I could use the exercise to burn off some of what I ate last night!

5 degrees outside...Runnin' hedge / Oak / Honey Locust combo.... Today will set the alltime low high daily temperature for March in KC. It was set in like 1960 at 8 degrees, but todays high is looking like 6 degrees...
