My sister invited me on holiday; she has rented a house in the Georgia mountains for next week. Now they are saying the hurricane is going to be going over Georgia. We can't change plans, my sister has paid and there is no refund. The irony is that it is now going to be sunny and clear here. I had been busting arse to get everything away because they were all but sure the storm would hit Florida, and then turn and hit again at the Carolinas and come up straight towards me.
I guess I won't be spending much time out on the lake or the other trips we had planned; hopefully at least part of the week will be good.

We are in the very Northwest Ga mountains, and have been told to expect 3-5 inches of rain..and possibly up to 60mph wind gusts..not sure if we will get that much wind, but are "battening down the hatches" today just in case. The cabin is almost done...drywall is up and primed, and we could stay in it if we had to (wife is worried about staying in the camper-not tied down). New pics soon on the other thread.

I think I would hunker down in the cabin. That trailer is going to be moving around and I would be afraid of a gust of strong winds knocking it over.

We have had hurricanes to blow through here and take trees down and power lines. I guess we will be heading out early Monday to get down to the rental. It is at Hiawassee, GA. Money is paid so we might have a couple of days of stay inside but hopefully beautiful weather later. Here is where we will be staying: Beautiful new house in front of the lake... - HomeAway Hiawassee

Yesterday was overcast but no rain. We went to Blue Ridge Ga and I found something of interest for FHC that I will post when I return home.

Sorry...should have updated...everything here turned out fine. We had about 12-18 total hours of wind and rain, but I don't think the gusts got over 45..and not a lot of rain (relative to what was predicted), probably about 2-3 inches. Rained on and off for about 3 days, but we had harder rains in the spring during thunderstorms. Haven't been all over, but no trees down. We did stay in the camper, and with everything coming from the south the mountain behind us kind of sheltered us. Did wake up about 3 that night and got a little worried, but GOD was looking out for us! BTW..woke up this morning and looked out the window to see a young deer not 2 feet outside the camper!
