Now for the real wood. I'll have this all in the woodshed before three weeks is up.

    The very best Red Oak.
Canadian, once it's cut and stacked it measures out to around six cord.

I wish I had an East Texas hard wood connection. I'd love to see a log truck show up at the shop.

Sweet Chris! Not even one limb to contend with! However, there is a bit of dirt you may have to wrestle with.

I saw that. I'd probably either wait until the rain washes that off, or just break out the hose.

    A big pile of fun!

Typical is 3 years to season red oak,
    How long for your area?

    When will it be burned?

A lot more than I thought at first glance. After cutting the first log I had to get out the hose and spray every single one so far to get it off.
I have a method...Spray off three or four then cut them to length. Roll out three more and spray them off. While those are drying I split and stack the previous three.
I hate taking the time to do it but I also hate having to stop all of a sudden to file a chain only to stick it back in dirt on the next log.
I'm anal, I like clean wood.

I know from being here at HFC that three or more is preferred but I'm on the one year plan and always have been. I'll be burning this next winter.
Putting the dehumidifier on after it's in the basement really helps. I went from having to clean the chimney about five times during the winter to two or three times.
Keep in mind too that my old furnace isn't airtight and I don't even have a gasket on the loading door. I regulate the heat by how much I put in at a time...more wood equals hotter temps. Once the colder weather hits and I'm burning hotter creosote isn't a problem.

Who likes cutting with a dull chain. Sounds like a good approach to a dirty problem to me. No pun intended.

We went from cleaning the chimney 4-5 times per year to once every 4 or 5 years! Burn a lot less wood too.

    Yea
    The science don't lie,
The benefits of dry wood are definitely measurable
    More heat with less wood
    Cleaner stack & cleaner air
But "you burn what you got"
