Good training for ya! We have all been spoiled for so many years we are in shock with this old fashioned winter.

 

I think I am trained. I grew up with a wood stove and have been burning full time during the winter since I inherited the farm in 2003.

 

You know what they say. You should continue to learn through your entire life!

 

43 here yesterday afternoon with decent sunshine.By 9PM it was down to 19 with about 1/2" of new snow & very strong NW gusts.At sunrise it was 9 degrees,wind blowing all day & started snowing again mid afternoon.Supposed to get 4 to 6 inches total by morning.10 was as warm as it got today.2 right now & still snowing.High of zero tomorrow,low Monday morning of 13 below.Not supposed to be above 15 until next Wednesday.

44 inches snow so far here this season,normal is around 32 from late November to early April.Barely 20 all last year.Most I remember since growing up was winter of 2009-10 where we had 72 inches in metro area,3rd highest total in over 100 yrs of record keeping.That wasnt as cold as this year thankfully,I was working inside for a change.

 

It just seems like y-day you were saying "I sure hope we get cold pretty soon and have a real winter" We've had it my friend.

 

no new snow for us, just cold cold cold. I was ready for spring after the power outage and even more ready after my fall on the ice.

 

Ughh Im so ready for spring not summer just spring. Im out of this years wood and into next years stash thats my fault though for not planning for the just in case Im certainly ready for some warmer weather though its going to be in the 60s tomorrow and then back down into the 30s.

 

Here they said I think 108 inches total snowfall this season. Second snowiest ever and a couple inches coming down tonight. Thankfully, it's just breezy and not white-outs with drifting this time.

 

The 3" of fresh snow this morning, warm, wet, and mushy.
I donned un-insulated coveralls for the first time this winter.
Anyone East of me, stay warm, it won't be much longer before you're bitch'in about the heat and humidity and stuff. -ticks, mosquitos, black flies, alligators, etc, etc.

Its 68* right now and I just got a winter weather advisory for tomorrow Apparently its going to be sh@#ty and get sh@#tier all day tomorrow rain to snow to sleet

 

No offense Scotty, glad we are missing this one. We are getting the northern tip of this monster coming through, maybe a couple inches in all.
I was working on the splits in the newest woodpile yesterday, placing them on the racks for drying. All the pieces on the bottom were encased in ice,
it's time for spring to roll in.

 

About 2 inches here....I noticed the weather geeks were pretty cautious, I don't think anyone quite knew what this storm was going to do. First time I have said this...I think we are on the down hill slide now. I'm hoping for a somewhat dry spring though, the one area that my good freind and I were cutting in that was logged has not been accessable since late last spring. I'm in good shape for wood, but we need to get him fixed up and I wouldn't mind some more excess so I can bless some other folks.

We just got about 3-4 inches last night. I spent part of the day cleaning up and then built another sliding hill for the kids with the Bobcat. Other one was no good anymore!
