Ok. Makes more sense now. Somewhere I should have the jig to bend some more hay hooks. Might have to make one and harden the tip. Glad I have a blacksmith for a neighbor...
I just put mine in between the angle iron on the trailer up in the front, and bent it. All you have to do is heat it up to red, then stick it in some water, propane torch will do it, sharpen the end how you want it first
I have the 30" ? Stihl brand pickaroon . It is identicle to the Log Rite aluminum handle one. It works very good for some things. When cutting my wood 4' or 44" in the woods. I use it to pull the front stack out of the bed of the pickup. And I constantly use it for swinging the rounds over to the splitter. For myself, the tongs win out for picking the rounds up to place on the splitter. Then the pulp hook . My wrists aren't what they used to be. The handle of the tongs or pulp hook is a much more natural position for me. However , this tool looks like it would be IDEAL for stacking splits !!! And for a lot of general purpose use !
Yeah that's what I got it for, picking up splits off the ground basically, it works good for other things, I used it for grabbing some 6 to 10 in rounds off a pile, ( I need that extra reach to get a hold of them) to put on the splitter, stick the round pull it to me then grabbed by the head with my other hand and put it on the splitter, worked pretty good The Length I got works good for me without having to bend over. Can't beat my 3-foot hookaroon for unloading the trailer.
I've got the Fiskars Xa22 and love it for unloading the trailer. I also use it when picking up and loading small rounds most definitely a Back saver.
