Very cool way of stacking. If me, I'd still try to get some kind of top covering,, at least for the wood to be burned during upcoming heating season.
Yep, we live 'back east', about 4 hours south of Woodstock. Much further east and we would be standing in salt water. We met you and your wife, and some of the folks from this forum at the last open house at Woodstock. I was the guy who was with Andrea, the 'stacking woman'. If Woodstock has another one this year, we could meet up again if you folks can make the trip, we certainly would. Brian

Yes. I remember we had a few laughs. I didn't put this together until I looked at that one picture of your wife. Quite naturally, I guess, I remember the ladies.
Yeah, we (you, Dennis and me) have all met along with another handful of people who frequent this forum (and I am not great with names either, and forum 'handles' and peoples' real names confuses me further so I will not guess what I think are the names of those folks....). I have not heard anything about an open house at Woodstock but if I remember correctly, they announce it late and very close to the date in past years. ?? It is a great gesture, a good time and very good to meet such a 'nice company' (seriously: the positive attitude is infectious and radiates from Tom on down to the dogs who 'work' there). Unfortunately, it is probably not a money- maker and the perfectly understandable fact is that that is a business and running events in the red are not a great idea. But if they do have one again, and I certainly hope they do, we would go for the ride and say 'hello' to some of you folks again. Brian
Laughs? I do not remember any of that- I am very serious and not inclined toward humor. Not sure but we may have done 'The Cat Joke' there, that is usually a real crowd- pleaser. This is a marathon telling of 'The Cat Joke' at a motorcycle rally in TN a few years back: I am the one in the orange shirt telling the joke, Andrea is across from me in the red shirt, trying her best not to 'wet' the couch, and the guy next to her in the blue shirt is Chuuuuuuck (they use a lot of vowels in TX where Chuuuuuuuuck is from) is reaching for a newspaper to put under Andrea in self- defense. We almost bought her a package of 'puppy pee pads' but she said that would embarrass her..... like the noises she makes during the telling of 'The Cat Joke' are not embarrassing. As an aside: Chuck had a gigantic, woolly beard earlier in the day. We set up in an auditorium at that event and I shaved the gentleman with a straight razor (I shave with a straight but that was the first time I ever shaved anyone else) for charity: we raised something like $900. Brave man, Chuck but he is a Presbyterian Minister and one of the people in the studio audience said that if the world really works the way Chuck thinks it does, and I cut him, the would would disappear from his face and appear on mine. And yet another aside: that was Andrea's longest trip on a motorcycle to date: We left TN, traveled to our son's in Fayetteville, NC for a few days and then rode home in one straight shot, close to 800 miles. Not absolutely sure what you are referencing but the open house's were at Woodstock Soapstone in NH (although right on the NH / VT line). It is a great company, full of very positive, helpful and productive people. After all the chatter about America losing jobs, losing the ability to manufacture and so on, it is great to see a small company thriving and doing so happily without a drop of 'gloom and doom' anywhere. The open house is great too because it is right in / on the manufacturing floor. There is not much of a front end to Woodstock anyway and so they set up tables for everyone to eat and chat right on the manufacturing floor. Anyone / everyone can and does mingle with all the staff there and they actually work on stoves as well as having several actually burning wood, all while the visitors watch and talk to the staff. Really quite an interesting and pleasant day to spend with those folks. And there are some folks from this forum there that kind of clump together too, which is also nice. Brian
I did speak with someone at the factory and so far there are no plans for an Open House this year and I highly doubt there will be. However, I've been wrong many times before.
