Seems like we may be lucky enough to get up to 10" but I will believe it when I see it. Either way, I will be ready. Getting a head start, will top it off tomorrow morning (which also replenishes anything we use tonight.) Was pretty happy with the "pockets" of locust. The rest of the line up includes, mulberry, ash, maple, oak and walnut. Unfortunately dipping into next years supply. (Pretty heavily.) However my location is ideal for wood drying; VERY breezy and gets full sun. Though I am working as hard as possible to be 3 years ahead. Looking at the Appalachian Trail in the background. Depending on the weather (and who is home) this can hold 2-7 days worth of burning.
Stay warm, brother. We're in the same path of snow, I hope we get it too. Just ONE big one for the year, after this I'll welcome spring with open arms. Love that firewood door, and nice selection of wood as well! We've used a LOT more wood this year as well, thanks to the coldest winter in over 20 years and burning two stoves pretty much nonstop for three months. I've already cut and split more than I used this winter (all red and white oak as well as around a cord of hickory), trying to stay ahead of the 3 year curve.
Gettysburg is on the other side of that range. Caledonia just to the left. Storm seems to be tracking further south, totals are going down maybe next weekend? While I'm looking forward to more snow, I'm also ready to get the garden started.
I really like your setup. And I hear ya on getting outdoors for some springtime activities, I can't wait myself.
Very nice thanks for sharing the pictures. I built a wood door also and would be hard pressed to be without one now.
Goes even faster with two people (which is nice during the work week.) I find I keep the Misses inside she is more willing to help.
Snowless ground? We haven't seen trace of that in over 100 days, and from the looks of the weather forecasts won't for at least another two weeks. Setting records for snow cover. Got a few more inches last night, cold enough to be very light and fluffy. That has been the saving grace with all the cold an snow this winter: no heavy shoveling. I have used the broom all winter, a lot easier.
Looks good Tuneighty. Last I looked the storm was not much and mostly rain. Will see what tonight brings though. We had a couple inches overnight and a friend about 50 miles from us got 6". I congratulated him!
