Anyone know why the "smart stove" by Englander isnt list anywhere on Englanders website yet it is for sale by AMFM energy and home depot? It is listed on AMFM as a brand new stove and it is model # 55-TRPCB120 The stove looks attractive to me, as it seems like it has all of what i want in a stove. But now im skeptical because seems to not be listed at heatredefined.com So im wondering if its either discontinued or there is problems with it etc.. Thanks for any help in advance!
update - actually looked further into englanders website and did fine a page where i can buy parts for it. feel a little more confident, but still curious as to why its not listed on their current offerings page. I like the imperial too but this one has a bigger hopper, larger cfm blower and the exhaust vent is in exactly the same spot as my pdvc which would make it really easy to swap out with this new one.
I can tell you the are still making them. Just bought one that was made in like June of this year. Bought it from AMFM.
Englander told me that model number was discontinued, but they still sell them under a new model number. however that model number isnt listed on their site as available stoves. which concerns me even more about this model. just dont have a good gut feeling about it. Then they tell me that while the smart stove does indeed turn on and off via thermostat, it only works through the thermostat built into the control board and not with an external one such as a honeywell. My stove room is always warmer than the rest of the house. i guess i could learn to compensate, but im really hesitant on this stove because none of these models are listed on their website. I would be happy with an imperial i think. i just have to search out some reviews. its hard to weed out good reviews from knowledgable people. I assume theres a lot of reviews from people who thought they would buy this and never have to clean it, then complain when it doesnt work.
I've always found most reviews to be useless because they're written within a few weeks of purchasing the product. Most things will work for a little while.
my other idea is a 10-cpm. I've liked that model for years but the dismal hopper capacity puts me off. I cant find an extension like i bought for my pdvc. Does anyone own the 10-cpm and if you do could you post the measurements of the hopper opening? I believe that probably more than one englander model use the same hopper and i might be in luck if the measurements pan out. thank you in advance for anyone who posts the measurements. Also, someone on another forum mentions a quadrafire cb-1200. I did some research and i like those too. I know that is a dealer sold stove. was wondering if they can be had online and shipped. anyone know where? i def. dont need an install.
I had a 10-CPM in my previous house for 3 years. The hopper will hold 1 full bag of pellets if you push and shove to fill all the corners. Other than that, a great burning stove that can burn anything you throw at it.
Well i spoke to a fabricator and he said that the 10-cpm is never going to have a hopper extension because of the shape. It would be impossible to get a good seal. I thanked him for his honestly and not trying to fab one up to sell one more. He made the one for my pdvc. A new contender is the drolet eco-65. It seems to have everything i want. Large hopper, very powerful room air blower, ash drawer, auto start and stop with thermostat. I heard good things about it from what i read. Im a bit concerned as this thing is 440 lbs empty. filled with pellets im looking at almost 600 lbs. Is that too much weight to have in one spot of my floor? Currently the pdvc is 261 lbs empty. It holds 3 bags so figure the max that spot has ever seen was 381 lbs with a full stove. It sits on the end of a ranch house and while it is in the corner of the livingroom, it is almost smack dab in the middle of the joist span. the end of the house is not a load bearing wall. Should i be concerned about the extra 200+ lbs?
I wouldn't let it stop you... If your thwat worried, you could buy a column and shore it up under the stove.
Hello What about the HR Kinderhook? Large Hopper and Large Ash Pan with Hi-Lo or Auto-On/Off using a T-Stat? It has a 130 lb hopper and total weight of stove with a full hopper is 350 lbs See Hudson River Stove Works KINDERHOOK Freestanding Pellet Stove - homeclick.com Or The Breckwell Big E P1000 with hopper extension holds 7-8 bags with t-stat and all!!! Stove weighs 220 with empty 130 lb hopper Empty hopper with extension holds 350 lbs of pellets See https://www.amazon.com/BRECKWELL-BIG-Heater-PELLET-Extension/dp/B008N4Y1R8
IMAC - he said it was to do with the shape of the opening. I can see kinda why he might not want to from the picture. maybe if he tried hard enough he could do it. actually learning to weld is on my bucket list. **anyway** moot point now.... Done & ordered finally. I went with the 25-pah. It holds plenty of pellets, has the larger room air blower, can auto start and stop with a thermostat. It says it heats 2000 sq feet. I previously was doing it with the pdvc and it only needed help on the coldest of days. This should be able to do it without help. Just in case, im keeping the 25 pdvc but in the dining room as auxilary. Got it from AMFM energy as a new unit. Spoke to Andy just to make sure it comes with the OAK. It does. (HD says on their website it does but AMFM doesnt state that). I also ordered all new vent and 1 adjustable section because the height of the exhaust will be different. I am now a multi stover I think maybe because its starting to get chilly now, I am in this winter prep mode. I also decided it was time to replace my tiny 1 speed ariens 2 stage snowblower with a new cub cadet 30" 3xHD. Can't wait till that ships too.
