Send all the neighbors to pee on it whenever possible. Dang I hate hearing about all those fires out west but seems to be an annual thing.
Nature has used Fire to manage the forest in the west since the beginning. In recent history it was decided that forest fires should be put out. Since we are not removing the accumulated fuels that the fires used to consume they have built up over the years and are why we now have these massive fires that consume more acreage and burn a lot hotter than if they were left to burn on their own.
I'm gonna guess you get real good real quick reacting to the rather sudden weight change. I'm also gonna guess a sudden increase in lift is easier to deal with than a sudden loss, but I don't know that. I've only flown a plane that size in microsoft's flight simulator and those things stall just thinking about turning the autopilot off.
For the most part the fire isn't spreading, still some flair ups and helicopters are doing water drops on them.......This was a small fire compared to some we've had in the last few years....I'm happy I only have about 2 years before I can retire, I'm sick of the desert! it's time to move on.
A big problem this summer is all the grasses and invasive weeds and from a very wet winter and a very hot summer. Dry thunder storms and constant winds every afternoon all ad up to disaster! and it seems to be getting worse every year.....Lack of resources from fighting larger fires was a reason it took so long to get this fire under control.
It would seem to me that the sudden loss is the big thing and that happens with heat. Pass over the flames then hit a clear area and up you go!
