I don't think this is going to replace my pulp hook it's 11" long, I wish they made a longer pulp hook . I wanted something longer than the pulp hook but shorter than my hookaroon so after searching around I ended up getting this , hoping to pick up splits off the ground with no bending at all , picking up splits to put in a stack the 3' hookaroon is to long. Ordered it Wednesday, got it Friday FORESTER 17" HEAVY DUTY PICKAROON
Come to think about it, wasn't it Shawn Curry who had the log tongs with the longer handles at the GTG last spring?
I like a lot, the reach is great,, it sticks in with a normal angle swing, it doesn't take much effort to stick it in oak, it holds Good and the wood comes off pretty easy, the head is 1/4" thick steel, it seems durable to me, I guess I just have to wait and see on that to be sure. Price is not, bad $34 to my door. I did some comparison and measuring, found out this tool is actually 21" tip to end of handle, 18" to the hook in the handle. Pulp Hook is only 9 1/2" from the bottom of the handle to the tip, log tongs are 12" from the bottom of the handle to the pointed tips.
I really like the length of that HDRock . We have a fallen stack of locust that I think it would be a big help on. God I'm startin to really despise ground squirrels! They love making home under the stacks and I patiently thin them down with the .17 but I need to get more aggressive with the extermination. Thanks for your review!
Dang Mouse's tore the heck out of my tarp from underneath. I had a small pile out there that was too long to fit the stove ,I had to pick up and recut, but I have a bunch more coming in a couple of days. That size fits me and works well, I was picking them up and setting them right in that buggy with one hand, I'm 5'3" so if you are taller you might want one a little longer, or maybe not, they have a 24" at that site but it's different, heavier than the type I have
The head is replaceable but as of right now I don't see any reason why you would have to replace it, maybe, just maybe if you were using it on the job every single day. I looked at some other ones they were $60 to $90 and over, Fiskars has one similar at a good price but it's only12" I think I'm going to try and grind my long hookaroon into the same profile as this because it works better, hookaroon takes more power to get it stuck good. You can select a slower delivery time and get it a little cheaper also. Oh yeah I forgot my back really likes it too
Yeah kind of does look like a Fiskars but hey orange is easy to find. On the other note, you better watch yourself, I'll knock your damm knee cap off
