6 months from now you would be saying how warm it was and you had the windows open.

Yesterday I got home at 4:45 and checked the weather station. High outside had been 65*, and was presently 63*. Inside house was 66* and nowhere to go but down :shiver:. Fired up the P43 before I left for my night job. 68* in house when I got home . The P43 fired again about 3 AM (woke me up and I went to bed for 30 minutes).

So yeah, didn't even make it to September before having to unplug the flue and fire up Helga.
Just a short burst or two today to get my weight room up to workout temp.
But the benchmark day of low 40s overnight and below 60 the following day is forecast sometime in the next couple of days.

I already used the oil burner twice, so today i just said screw it, summer's over.

We used to do a few different bread and butter pickles now are doing only refrigerator sours when you cut down on salt and sugar the sweet pickles get left out. We haven't done company pickles the last couple of years. They take a week and use enough sugar to sink a battleship. The high sugar sauce gets boiled down before bottling.

I vote we scrap summer entirely. Best I can support is a single month of it.

Finally broke out the pond hopper and took to fishing, guess last year a many were watching me pull in some fine Largemouth's . To my discomfort there were 15 on the pond fishing my favorite spots BAH ! They were not catching anything and I managed to pull a few decent ones in but how discouraging was that. Still have a little time left before the ice hits the ponds so plan on getting out there again but other ponds for sure. Envious JT some nice fish indeed and hope to post some pics of a few largies myself sometime soon getting a bit chilly hereabouts.
