Real warm today but next 2 days in the 60's sound better. Yes, lots of leaves changing already and quite a bit of drop too.
I got my fingers crossed that we get a REAL winter here in PA this year. It's been really lame the past few years!!!
I can't remember the last time I've seen so many acorns dropping from my Oaks, could be another sign.
We have had a couple of easy winters. A cold one with snow would be nice. I don't like 38 degrees and rainy, it reminds me of Ft. Bragg in winter sitting in a fox hole.
Wishful thinking, but I'd rather prefer to live vicariously through your tough winters. No doubt I just jinxed myself and this will be a bad one....
Our one Birch has been turning for a while now, and some slight popple turning. Ferns are browning up, but the rest of the trees here on the property are still all green. However, on the way to a friends this morning, I saw leaves turning on several Oak. As HD mentioned, we're due for a cool night Thurs.
I've been seeing leaves here and there turning, and some drop in my yard. Today I saw a tree in almost full color on the highway.
Scotty Overkill is being overrun with cords upon cords of wood, and is dying to burn! He's currently holding and shaking a pair of dice in his hands, shouting "Come on, Old Man Winter!"
As odd as it sounds, I have 3 cherry trees and 8 maples in my yard and I have NEVER seen the leaves turning in August. I was thinking it was just because of being hot, because we got a good amount of rain. However, I'm wondering in the back of my mind if it's possibly an indicator of what's to come. Time will tell!
If God blesses us with a cold winter twill be just fine with me, as he has already blessed me with plenty of good hardwood to feed the Buck Stove. I say bring it !!!!!!
