I've had that. Used a wire wheel in a drill to get off the majority, then steel wool with metal polish.

Then I broke down and bought the spendy carbon guard so I wouldn't melt anymore boot.

I've been so busy this summer that I haven't gotten to do any pleasure riding since the International Female Ride Day (back in May!). Oh sure, I've ridden to work plenty, and to a couple of meetings, but that is it.

Yesterday I got to go on a ride with my HOG Chapter. We had a pretty good turn out considering about 10 of our regulars (and a lot of those officers) left Friday for 10 days of touring.

When I got home it was cool and cloudy so I washed and shined the bike up for the second time this year.

Its been several years but several of us got together for our man trip. We did an unofficial iron butt ride then once we were in Colorado we rode Pikes peak then headed to the Bad Lands, Spearfish Canyon, Needles Hiway and Deadwood.
We left Dayton, Ohio area on Friday @5:20pm
    IMG_2442.JPG

22 hours later we were in Limon, Colorado and very tired.
    IMG_2470.JPG
The next day we rode to the top of Pikes Peak. I don't have a lot of pics of that part. My motorcycle seat still has a crease in it from clenching my butt cheeks the ride up and back down. This pic is at 12000feet. The peak was 2700 more feet of puckering riding.
    IMG_2484.JPG
The last 3000 feet had a lot of switchbacks and minimum guard rails and shear drop offs.
    The Bad lands are impressive.

Once in a while I enjoy a cigar while riding. Other than that time I rode with my helmet on. The communication with the other guys while riding is convenient.

Needles Hiway was a great ride with awesome scenery.
    IMG_2532.JPG
We made it back the following Friday. Our total miles were 3486.
It was a fun trip but it was nice to get home to my wife and kids. My wife is jealous of the miles, we are doing a weekend ride together this coming weekend. She has trouble staying off the bike, she is a motorcycle junkie.

Yeah, the air wasn't quite a thin as yours!!
These were on Skyline Dr. Speed limit was 35 so it was a bit boring. I also hear Pikes is very strict. Guys that live close say if you try and play at all, they'll just wait at the bottom and bust you there, even confiscate your ride if they warrant it. I really don't like to put put... :)

Day 2 Wife and I put in 500! We left Wed morning and ran the entire Skyline Drive and kept going straight into the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hit a hotel near Roanoke Va. 317ish miles. Slabbed from there to Robbinsville and ran US129 a few times (pics to follow). Having a blast! Plan to enjoy the roads here, then run the Parkway back to Roanoke Sat. and stay the night, then slab home.

    Nice!

Does your wife ride or is she pillion?

I made it to The Dragon some years ago, only to find it closed due to a rock slide, lots of the Blue Ridge closed too due to snow high up, I was there in March.

My local HOG chapter took possession of the Patriot Flag yesterday and today we escorted it to its next destination (the scenic way of course). Not a huge amount of miles at 185, but all on scenic byways. Four of us Ladies of Harley joined in. We all ride our own.

LOH - I'm second from left. We are standing in front of my bike - you can see the kickstand between me and the Lady in purple. And the lady in purple's bike is over the left shoulder of the left-hand lady (the one with purple stripe on the fairing)

She did. I went through the safety course with her to get her licensed. Had a Vino scooter, then a Buell Blast and last was an SV650. It really made me worry having her solo. She ended up not riding much so we sold it and she just rides with me now.

More pics from our journey. Absolutely amazing views from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Ate lunch at a restaurant on this mountain, which is the highest peak east of the Mississippi.

We ran the BRP for literally hours and hours at whatever pace I felt like. It was epic.

All in @ almost 2,100 miles!!

Cherohala Skyway is the place to be. Lots of fresh asphalt with awesome grip.
I had an awesome run on the Multi solo and when I got home the gopro was switched to burst, so only a group of stills. :headbang:

How hard were they enforcing the speed limits? Going to ride the Moonshiner this time down.
