A bunch of wood available thanks to the Emerald ash borer. The guy says he has wood dump every week for the taking. I'll be making a few trips for sure.
That amazes me, we do not have anything like that around here. I wish we did. Now get going and get some wood in the back of that truck 74buc , then send more pics.
I was thinking the same thing when I scrolled down and your post was there. No free wood around here. I saw a pile of sticks in a guys front yard yesterday he had a forsale sign on them 100 bucks
Horkn, It's like an hour from my place. I'll only swing by when I go to visit my Mom in New Berlin. With so much other free wood available near by not worth the special trip.
How much free wood do you guys have???? A branch hits the ground around here and there are eleven people going after it.
That's a long haul even to get wood! But it would be worth it to meet you and sit by your fire. Hope you have beer.
Man I wish I had that near me. Here in New England, everyone wants money for the junk and even more money for the good stuff. Tree services all do firewood businesses on the side, town road crews keep it for themselves or if they give it away it's to their friends and family. Even the huge old street trees disappear shortly after being cut. There's people around that you would never suspect own an 80+ cc saw and a 32-48" bar, and they're all over that wood. A few years ago a neighbor lost a couple huge black willow trees to a wet spring and heavy rains, and he wouldn't even give the wood away.
I have a buddy I call the wood hoar he will try to cut stuff in people's front yard! I will not join him in his scavaging, it's a good way to get a good look at the wrong end of the barrel!
Nothing wrong with knocking on someone's door to ask.. But be prepared to hear a "No" around here and move along... Never know until you ask.. And in NH, you have to ask unless it's like a power line cut on town land...
