I spent the better part of the frigid afternoon going through the "Soundtrack" thread and it got me wondering. How many musicians do we have around here? The only one I remember seeing is devilsbrew with a banjo.
I've been playing guitar for 30 years although there was a bit of a lull at times when the kids were growing up. I played around with my step daughter's flute but can't say I can actually play it. Last summer I picked up a mandolin. Haven't done much with it yet. I just always loved the sound and decided to grab this one when I was wandering around the flea market one day.

Here's a few of my collection.

First one I ever bought new back in '83. The white spot on the face is light from the flash. There's no mark there. This is the one that traveled with me when I followed The Dead.

This one I picked up on ebay in '07 when I was looking for something with a cutaway. 1964. Another Epiphone.

Here is my first 12 string. Got this one in '87. Alvarez. P1010644.JPG

And then there is the prize of my collection. A 1946 Epiphone, model Broadway with the original case. One step down from their top of the line guitars at the time. A fellow that I played with at the time got himself into serious financial trouble and sold it to me for ..... $125. It's missing an inlay at the fifth fret but it's still worth 10x what I paid for it.

I sure can't play anything. Always thought I would like to play piano.

My 12 year old son plays guitar. He currently has a Fender Strat. He's been taking lessons for about 2 years. Not sure where he got the interest or talent from?

I started around 12 also but then the teenage years got in the way. I picked it back up at 21 and stayed with it. I moved to a new area, didn't know anyone didn't have a car and didn't have a TV. It filled in the void.

I asked my pastor if I could sing in our church choir. He said, "Sure, you can sing ten-or: Ten or eleven miles from my church."

Not sure about anyone else but my desire to play music has steadily been growing. I have always been more interested in growing stuff but this year music is taking over and the seeds are taking a back seat. I have asked to learn some back up or even bass lines so that I can play with others. A long term goal would be to hit an open mic night.

Back in the 80's I had friend that I played with 2-3 times a week. After about a year of playing together we had developed a 90-100 song repertoire. He never joined my but I made a few stops at a local open-mic night. Lots of fun!

I've played the piano on and off for 20 plus years. Got bored with it a while back and picked up guitar. It really made learning the guitar aloy easier. I've got a les paul studio from the early 90s, an ovation, an A & L, and an Alvarez.

Just to keep it wood related...anyone remember the jackyl song lumberjack? Lmao

TC and I have been sharing realities of the road. Been at it for over 40 years. Tho I don't get too excited about it as much now, it's still fun to play sometimes. And, definitely good exercise. Here's my Roland kit. Started playing right handed, got bored and switched to left…
I'm confused… (guess I'm just more interested now in different chops)… :axe:

I've been playing the violin (classical)for 35 years. I teach it to a few students.
I also play bass guitar (jazz and blues) although there isn't much of an outlet for it in my neck of the woods.
