I worked in a nice warm area today, the first drop was a dead elm (my guess) after I did that I had some Cherry tops I cut which made some nice small rounds. After cleaning up the area some I fell a damaged Maple from the ice storm (identification) it's not a huge amount of wood but it's my official start of spring cutting.
About 8 degrees on the thermometer back at the house, I was working in the sun so it was warmer, no wind back in the woods.
I've noticed how warm the sun is starting to feel and how longer the days are now. I think the clocks change next weekend. I told my wife I'll have to put the tractor away and start using the atv when this snow melts, it's gonna get messy.
Nice stuff woodlands! Did some cutting this afternoon also and was outta the wind and in the sun.. Actually just got in and i am typing this in my gotchies Didnt notice how hot i was till i sat down Calling for more snow over here again tomorrow though... How about you guys?
There is a storm headed here Sunday night, not sure how much we'll get. I don't think it will hit Zap.
Just the cold but I'm sure we'll get two more snowstorms before it's over. With the sun getting stronger, the hills with the most wood on them (down) will lose it's snow first, it will be nice if I can get most of that done before it gets real hot out.
Looks like the storm will go south of us. Might get a little bit tonight but not much. We had -14 this morning. I know PapaDave had -20. Didn't warm up much during the daytime either.
Looks like a fine day to me Zap. We made it to 25 today. I am planning on doing some cutting tomorrow, more beech.
We'll hit close to 30 tomorrow, that Beech is some great firewood. Once some of the hills lose there snow, I have a Beech down that I'll grab first, don't forget those pics.

You back at again tomorrow ? I hope to get almost 2 truck loads if I can. 1 of stuff that I can lift and 1 of big rounds that will need to be rolled up the ramp. Have everything in the truck and plan on being out at day break. Got some new files this week and man can I tell a difference on the edge they put on the chain. I didn't realize how bad the old one was.
