Well it is the new wood hauler but I figured I'd give it a whirl with the pile of OSB for my dad first. Very heavy trailer 35 sheets of 1/2" and 3/4" OSB. I'd say the homemade hitch does the trick pulled it great!!!!
It did jump once but that was cuz I wanted to realllllly test it slam n go like a tractor pull I really don't want the hitch to break when I need it. I'd rather break it now if it's gonna break.
wow Pete ... trailer looks heavy (well made) I hope you are on flat ground cause I don't think brakes on that JD will stop it! hitch looks great!
I pulled it through the side yard up the driveway which isn't very far but it is loose gravel and dirt and the Deere did good. It is making me think about building a detachable weight holder for the front plow. The tractor is hydrostatic so stopping is easy even though I seriously loaded the trailer down. 52lbs a sheet roughly so that's 1800+ pounds and the trailer weight.
Exactly what I thought too... I had the wheelie issue when trying to move my partially loaded dump trailer with the zero turn the other day...couldn't keep the front end down...did get it scooched back sliding on the jack foot plate...but couldn't go forward at all.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that!!! Before this I had 10 1/4" thick by 2" square washers stacked on a long bolt with the ball on top. It's amazing how well wood can hold up to abuse! I'll bet that's good and strong plus it's easy to replace the top if you need to. Trust me I defiantly have my share of quick fixes too. I really am focusing on the mower this year so I can get the blade mounted on it and hopefully weld up a back blade too. The snow is annoying I like to show it who is boss...
Not a clue. I don't much care though all I do with the mower is pull firewood trailer, move the trailers usually empty around and snow plow. The wood trailer is what you'd call a mower trailer. I am going to move the trailer on occasion with a small load of wood in it but it's mostly to move it around empty when I need to so I can save my back and legs. The hitch is also so I can pull the driveway drag and not worry about bending the lip on the mower or the back.
