Can't be fussy in March, when the shed is empty and the oak isn't dry yet.

Pine's just fine. Yeah, you need to load the stove more, but that's really the only issue with it. Well, beside the pitch that it can have

Good morning all. This working for a living is exhausting. Definitely have to work on my morning routine. At least it is nice and quiet this week.

Happy Birthday Firebroad Hope you have a great day.

campinspecter went out and got a load of wood this week for Mom. We have had many drizzly days so it is not quite so dry. The interior of the province is still going up in flames.

With my lack of prep for this coming winter, I can't be fussy period.

I have 6-7 cords of Oak and locust from this past winter, but I was too busy this spring to scrounge enough for this coming winter. I'm at about two cords right now.

Tractor Supply has a sale every fall on wood bricks, I've used them to stretch out my dry wood.

I used a few of those last year, I bought some for just in case of power outages, then burned them at the end of the season.

I have a pretty decent rate locked in for propane. I honestly don't think it's worth the aggrivation to heat with the stove if I'm paying anything more than short money at today's fuel prices. If I burned a cord in a month, I'd only be saving about $50 max over propane at $3-350 a cord.

Waiting to hear back from the guy with that pine. I texted him ealier. I just have to be patient, there will be plenty of opportunities to pick up some more.

I actually split some of the lighter pieces of Oak from Lowell. 21% on the moisture meter. So I'm going to get that stuff ready and it might be ok by mid winter.

I hear you about the money. I have nat. gas piped in, which is pretty inexpensive. The wood burning is mainly to keep the basement warm. If only there were wood-fired air conditioners and pool pumps! I have big electric bills for the summer months.

My electric bill last month was $240.00 up $90 more than normal for some reason. The ac and hot tub do me in. Bill doesn't go down too much in the winter with the tub either.
