    The lower left bark looks like our poplar. You would probably call it cottonwood in Mi.

    I hope Midwinter is correct

    That's what I thought. It's a craigslist find and the post says oak. I went to look at it and took pics. I think it's cottonwood too. Thanks turbodiesel!!!!
    I don't want cottonwood even for camping firewood.
    This is why I love this forum great group of guys!!!!!
