I can only think that it is the salt, but sardines in water are 200mg which is low. In oil, 400 mg and higher in mustard. You'll need to review everything you ate in the past couple days if you think it is the salt that got your BP up. Could have been something else that did it. You have mentioned eating a lot of other foods that are much higher in salt.
My medication has doubled in the past week and I am still hypertensive. Getting a physical next week. Meds make me a bit more dizzy. I don't need to fall and get hurt again. I still exercise 3-4 times weekly in the pool at the VA.
here is a sardine that has no added salt:

Here is good BP monitor you might want to consider:
Omron 10 Series Wireless Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Cuff that fits Standard and Large Arms (BP786/BP786N) with Bluetooth Smart Connectivity

    upload_2017-8-17_9-43-21.png good price on Amazon

I do not do Roland seafood it comes from the wrong places most of my sardines are in water but the really good ones are in oil, none are really high in salt but I consume more than 1 serving and usually do so on crackers. I eat only New Brunswick caught and processed sardines call me finicky.

I also normally run on a no salt added low salt diet.

I have an Omron I got on *zon back the first part of 2017 for $10.00.

The first thing done to the fish when they hit the tanks is they are covered with salt and brined. Remember, at one time I worked in a cannery.

I would like to believe that the processing would take care of the issues but there is little control over a lot of it. The sardines I ate Tuesday noon time on crackers coupled with my water works condition likely caused my issue. I am also staying up more and that makes me tired to start with but as I said I can feel it when I go hyper tense.

The arm ones have been accurate for some time the wrist ones that don't sense pulse issues aren't, those that do sense pulse issues will error out and need to be properly positioned.

If a bp meter can't sense your pule there is no way it can read bp.

I've had 2 arm machines and 1 wrist one, they all register similar to doctor visits. I prefer the wrist ones since I cant hang my hands down for long.

    Oh well...
Cool thing was watching Judge hit a ball so far,
that the left fielder didn't even budge, or look at it...
Glad he is starting to come out of the HRD slump...
