How much is shipping cost from the west coast to here per ton?

According to a certain forum and their members they can be had at retail for 180 a ton. That's retail, so if the Box Stores, given your discount rate, are paying no more than 150 and most likely less. That is 70 a ton to break even on freight.
And they may have very little freight cost. Trailers are often coming back after a load empty, it very possible to get amazing shipping rates when this is the case. We used to get amazing rates by using contraction crews to haul our freight in the winter while their tractors were idle. And we were a tiny two or three truck loads a day company. (I worked did not own)

When we have brought inventory in from the west coast, it's pricey, but kind of immaterial, as I don't actually KNOW what HD pays. I can tell you though, that, for instance, shipping of pellets from PA to the northeast (by truck), is 43-50 bucks (per ton). Highly unlikely it's less than that from Oregon.

lol....just got this from GT when I got home:

    Steve,
We have received purchase orders for the following locations:
Please note the date(s) below are just "projected" ship dates. The actual ship date could be a few days earlier or a few days later. I would call the store ahead of time to confirm that the pellets are in stock and ready to be sold.

I haven't tried this year's GT's but I had read they were better than the previous year.

I haven't seen one of those since December 12th.

A friend said they seemed hotter and less ash.

The ash last year is a deal breaker for me...heat was really good though......I guess if I see them I'll pick some up to try.

I'm currently burning my last bag of Ligs and I'm sick of the ash with these too, which is a shame because these are a hot pellet but just too much ash for me. These are the complete opposite, ash wise, to the PTL's...go figure.

Not very nice of you OM.

I didn't score any Blazers however I had a high limit trip this morning.

It might be time to give the beast's convection blower a good cleaning and while I have the stove half apart for that I should install a new igniter since the last one crapped out about three weeks ago.

How long are you getting per igniter?

About 4 seasons. My original went poof early due to the many extra start and stop cycles. I'd have to look it up but as long as I have matches it is no big deal, a manual start takes just a few seconds. I have two replacements in the spare bin, it is just a knuckle buster and skin peeler to do the replacement, so I wait until there is other work to do. That way it takes fewer applications of band aids.

I am on my first season with a replacement. My original died early and I manually lit for a year. Luckily for me it is easy to change out, 15 minutes and no band aids necessary, well actually there shouldn't be any necessary but, sometimes I find a way.

I have big paws and there isn't much room and a lot of sharp things inside the shell of my stove.

While you are putting on those Band-Aids, just think of all the money you saved by doing this yourself! Sometimes a few nicks are worth it! [IMG]

Well they just said we are going to have the coldest March in 18 years, and I am running lowo_O Called the local flooring store today, because all of the box stores are out, as well as TSC. The flooring store got a truck load in 22 tons Wednesday afternoon, and sold out that evening. I am on list, he said they will call next Wednesday, and it is 25 bags per person at 5.50 a bag. It is a hard to pay a dollar more a bag but I will be damm if I am going to be cold! I hate to see 275 a ton for Somersets, but you do what you have to!
