Looking at a Gamo Silent Cat .177...seems to be a pretty well liked air rifle in the lower price range...anyone have any experience with one on 50' Chippy take downs? That would be my "normal" use for it...short range small varmit shots
Well, funny you should ask. Late last fall some stray cat had kittens in the wood shed and then disappeared when they were about 4-5 weeks old. After watching them for a few days I decided to take them into the garage after 1 of the 5 died, I was pretty sure mom was indeed gone then. They did pretty well except for 1 runt that died 2 weeks later. Fast forward to this spring, once it warmed up a bit I let them outside and they hung around the woodshed and yard pretty well, but I still wasn't sure if I wanted to keep them until I saw the one female eating a chippy...it was a done deal then, especially after I her with chippys several different times. We have seen very few of the lil varmits this year since the cats are around...not sure if all 3 cats are hunting them, or just the one female...gonna find out I suppose, because I literally just now finished burying her. Not sure what happened, came home and she was laying out in the front yard in a weird position...stiff as a board. No obvious physical damage so not sure if she got hit on the road or maybe ate a critter that had been into poison...dunno....we'll see how the varmit population does now...if the other two don't hunt...they outta here!
He looks like a pretty good size. They're cute when napping, eh? I've gotten 12 so far this year. Only one with the 22 though. Never heard of a Boone & Crockett chippy.
Just wacked another one. Half the last one's size. No trophy photo....he fell between wood stacks Still on the hunt
Haven't seen any chippy's around here but I just shot the second whistle pig out the bedroom window a couple weeks ago. No they are not welcome in my tomato patch.
I know it's counter to it's name but, I got a small Havahart trap. ~hangs head~ The trap combined with my 10 pump pellet gun, has culled the herd very effectively. Don't even have to bait the trap. 55 last year. 11 this year so far. They had started to get too close to the house, cutting holes 8n the lawn....etc. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
