I almost did this last year but I was able to squeak 1 more winter with the old humidifier. Little eBay shopping before the price goes up. My bride is very sensitive to dry air and will get nose bleeds.
I suffer from dry sinuses so we have 1 in the bedroom. So mild last year we didn't need it. Great item that all wood burners should have.
Yes, we have one in the bedroom as well. This one will be in the living room above the stove area. (Raised ranch)
Good planning! We use a vaporizer/mister in the bedroom and in the living room. It seems to do the trick but won't run all day when we are gone. I'm gonna look into a something like that. Thanks for the heads up!
I was at the Oreck store yesterday, and saw a Cadillac model. It was a humidifier, but also a HEPA filter fan. Removes all the smoke and dust particles, and keeps a level of humidity that you set the dial to.
I have not used a humidifier in many years but I do keep lots of tanks with tropical fish in them and I need to refill to the tune of several gallons per day to keep those tanks full. I think I know where the water is going.
I did the same, humidifiers helped but I was a slave to filling them a couple times a day. The AQ's I can let evaporate and add bulk as needed instead of kid-gloving the humidifiers. Yes, I like the model above but it sits unused now.
I am mostly into goodeids. They are uncommon livebearers from Mexico. The good part, as far as costs, is most of them don't need heated tanks as long as the house is comfortable for people. The bad news is they don't mix well with other fish so it is one species per tank.
