This is a pic I took of my stacks in march. Here's a pic from today. Notice the difference in color. It's all ready to burn now
the color difference is impressive.. I wonder what the moisture content is on the inside... but that change in color is 2 summers for me... what species?
red maple cherry and popular I bet are ready.. oak I would hit with a moisture meter.. never even heard of it drying that fast...
Good thing is I have 3 cords of oak and hickory in the shed that's ready. I could skip cutting this year if I wanted but I'm a hoarder so there's no way I can
I think so far this year we hit 90 twice for less than 4 hours total before cool down.. we can lite some fires Sept not consistent til about Halloween.
I need more heat longer and you have better wood ... sitting on 12 to 15 cord of ash.. and mixed mediocre wood
I got 22 acres of heaven quarter mile driveway to road ... behind barn is 2 to 3 acre wood processing area.. but my neighbors have 800 acres or better apiece.. farmer won't sell me a couple acres.. because it's in a land use for property tax reasons but he says I can use and maintain the wood lot and trails... his grandkids use my driveway on dirt bikes and wheelers to get to it great neighbors but taxes are high
