Land owner had a tree he needed to come down and I think it was elm (my least favorite). What say ye?
Yep, that's some sort of elm. It's not that bad. Seriously. Split it, stack it, and burn it in a couple of years. You'll like it then.
Ugh, I had a run in with a huge elm years ago. Not a fan and will probably separate and sell this. The sap just poured out when I notched it. That's my sons 365 special. Mike has an awesome recipe, it's an animal!
Wow... Just saw this thread... You've done good The Wood Wolverine ... Cant (really hard anyways) turn down really that easy of wood gathering that your set up with currently.
Sure is! Lots of shag bark hickory. And more coming. My wife talked me into taking a break this evening. Weather man is calling for showers anyway and my body could use a break.
My friend said the contractor asked for 4' stumps so the could push the root balls out easy. Just told me last night if I want to come back and cut those off after being pushed, I'm welcome to. Scotty Overkill you know the saying... when the sun shines.
Wow , that's heck of a score Congrats Ya'll did a great job gettin after it too Thanks for all the vids n pics
Got off work at 1 today and got a quickie load before the big storm hit. We were in such a hurry, I forgot the fully loaded pic. This will have to do. Hope this cold front coils of off a bit to get two loads tomorrow. We left one tree on the ground because the rain chased us out. We were soaked but it felt a bit good.
