I recently had an epiphany in regards to the earth's population. I realized that there has been an increase of not quite 100% of people in my lifetime (just 39 years). 4.2 billion to 7.9 billion. If that trend continues and or increases, things are looking pretty dammed crowded on this planet in the next two generations. Actually, I don't see how it will be at all sustainable...kind-of scary, really.

Wasn't aimed specifically at you, just what goes on round these parts.

Land is scarce hear I'm only a mile out of leeds city center, my garden is a 150 feet long and that's massive for round hear I wanted to go sideways so I could keep more wood away from the house plus keep some wild for nature. Four times i got refused. Next thing I know it's been sold to developers.
Suppose it's same everywhere. Don't know why they can't convert standing buildings to home people.

The OP did not say parks; the OP said open spaces. However, if a city wants to build a park, then they look for land that the owner wants to sell, wants to give up. Not forcing people out of their homes; not forcing people off their land. There has even been cities that forced people off their lands and gave it to developers so they could build shopping centres for profit.

Yes. That is done some here. An old factory was converted into flats; they even left the old painted business sign on the outside wall.

No brainier to me but they eventually convert them and charge £200000 for a flat.

Yes indeed! A cabin in the woods will beat that anytime.

Yes, I go by the place when I drive into town for supplies. I often wonder what they did and how posh they are. Sometimes here it is cute to live in some of these places and they can be expensive. Of course the area here is depressed with few opportunities for jobs so I doubt if they are expensive flats. All the real development is further north in Roanoke.

    Too bad.

But, reading into this a bit more and thinking about it even more, its up to the land owner what to do with the land, no-one else.

If I caught someone trespassing on my land (which I have in the past) I would tell them that they are not welcome there and the land is not for their use. Period.

Get your neighbours together, fight. Anything of worth is worth fighting for.

Seems to me that the baby's already been made. There is a new owner of the land.

Maybe you can think of the housing he will provide for hard working people just starting out?

I'd love to think that but they almost all will be bought by rich folk and then rented back to the council who then get paid by the government
