Tree already down, I just bucked, split, and loaded. Pickaroon worked awesome, got my Shindawa saw back, now I'm beat. Feels great. I used the pickaroon to drag the splits about 20 yards. I had to split the rounds to be able to pick them up. Gotta make the 2x6 loader soon. It is pine, but it helps my sis & BIL, it's their tree. Got 14&15 kindling!
Looks like you diced up that white pine pretty easily. Your pickaroon will definitely keep your hands cleaner with all that sap. Time for a big brush fire there.
Are you kidding? These folks are trained to spot a loose chain at a hundred paces! Nice job! I use a 2 wheel dolly/hand truck to move larger rounds to the splitter. Mighty Handy!
I love burning white pine, especially in the campfire ring on a warm, starry summer night. And that stuff, when split small, makes fantastic starter wood/shoulder season wood. I LOVE the smell of fresh cut pine...... We just did two big ones in January......I gave all that wood away! Should've kept it for the maple evaporator, but I'm sure we'll get a lot more this summer..... Nice job bringing it down, keep on hoarding!!
Nice score... Good for you helping your family like this....... Then plus you get to add to your stash...
I'm not sure what the tree in the corner was, I didn't look too close at that one. I'll get a better look and some pics when I go back. I'm definitely bringing a hand truck from now on. I also built the 'log loader' tonight after fetching a load of ash. It was dark so you'll have to wait until tomorrow for pics. I got about 10 15-20" rounds of the ash, and there is many more (bigger) ones waiting for me. The 20's were about all I could muster by myself. I also picked up the MS290 from Chvymn99, can't wait to get it Let the hoarding begin!
Ya your gonna have to make a fence of firewood. I looooovvveeee ours it even has pallet gates too! The gate is on the left lol. O and the fence is made of pallet slats. Number one rule YOU MUST HAVE A FIREWOOD FENCE to be a true hoarder. You'll love the 290 they are too heavy for my liking but the do a great job...
Nice job. I like cutting pine, love the smell. Only bad part about it is all the pitch and sap that comes along with it.
looks like cut up branches there's so many branches with a pine tree you may as well take a few minutes to cut some of them up to use as kindling or in a firepit the branches go through a chipper easy when they are green if you have one
