    ..wow.........
    Stumbled onto this forum.....wow......
I am humbled. My measly 5-6 cords in my back yard is nothing.
I am loving all the picks of wood storage/sheds.

I have been burning wood for heat since '77 when I
lived in Alaska. We could clear cut giant birch trees off the moose range. Clearing to
    improve moose habitat.

Since I moved back to Colorado, we cut in the foothills and mountains.
Many of those sources have dried up. The past 10 years we got wood at the
open space parks along the foothills. They were clearing for growth and fire control.
Mostly ponderosa, lodge pole, doug fir. It was good. A year ago, that source dried up.

....so, I started looking wherever I could.

Now, I call myself an urban wood gather.
Have found some interesting sources. Currently cutting wood from a speciality mill.
They have beams and siding from old barns from the east and mid west hauled in to make custom stuff. I am getting their scraps. Really nice 100yr old oak beams. Never had wood like this before.

I burn in a Lopi Revere insert. Nice little stove. Current saw is a Stihl MS260 and a smaller
    Stihl my dad left me.

I'm semi retired from 35yrs in IT support.
I am a skinny tire, long distance cyclist.
I build stuff. I grew up third hand to a man that could build anything.
    I learned a lot.
I like to build band saw boxes.
When people give me fire wood, I always return some of the wood back to them in a box.
I tell them I found it in the wood and thought they would want it back.

I have already learned some stuff from all the pics. Look forward to learning much more.

I'll see you on the road.

Glad you could join us. I only have three cord on hand, but it is all good.

I too, do all sorts of woodworking from firewood and other sources. We have quite a few other members here that wood work. We really like to see pics of whatcha got going on. Everyone brings something to the table.

Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us. Did you stumble by finding us on Google or what?

If you like more information, here is one you might enjoy and even make a copy of it: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage

Alaska and Colorado? We have members from both states and they are good people. Glad you can be counted with them.

Those scraps you are getting sound terrific and should be about as dry as possible. Good luck on finding other sources.
