Good. We could use a little over here to your east. Cornfields in SC are looking pretty dry at the moment.

I drove from Simpsonville out to our new home and passing a few fields that were all rolled up tight. We did get a little rain last night tho. It will be interesting to see how they look today.

Hey Randy, what are you making hay with? You have your own equipment?

(Now that we're thoroughly derailing Ralphie Boys thread)

I have a New Holland 311 for square bales, and a New Idea 4 x 5 for rounds.

Still cutting with a sickle bar though. New Holland 451.

I just have a 2 basket tedder, and an old JD665 ground driven rake.

    Two antique tractors. A JD1120, and a MF135.

Good question. I just got it.......working on hooking up this weekend.

Up till now I've been having a friend roll my bigger fields. But........his baler broke two rolls into a ten acre field that was raked and ready. I had to get my brother in law to come roll it. That was the reason I decided to get a round baler of my own. If I'm gonna do this.......well, I need to be ready.

    More will be revealed. lol

Here is the deal on such things; when they are working, they work great. When they start to develop problems they are just headaches. Take my old 93 Buick; please take it. No, anyway, the car had a strange problem where it would cut off when making wide curves like coming up on the motorway from the access ramp. Sometimes it wouldn't. I actually drove the car for a year without it cutting off. Everyone told me it was this and that etc. Then it started acting up again, cutting off on just making a turn from one road into another. It turned out to be the MAP sensor. Now one would think the MAP sensor would be good or bad and that it would throw the trouble code. Not this one. No codes and not always bad. It is probably the same for your saw. That is why I question putting too much electronic gizmo on a chainsaw.

I am a fan of mtronic and being around saws and working on them I've noticed that saws had carb, idle, starting problems before mtronic came along.

I remember how everyone hated efi and now a carb on a car is a memory.

speaking of carbs; any saws using fuel injectors or does having the oil in the fuel causes issues with injectors?

And of course the maintenance costs of autos have increased greatly and in some instances even having a code reader is not enough to diagnose problems on cars. The same is going to be true of saws as they add more and more computerised controls and sensors.

Wow, I have very distant memories of a NH311. (From my farming childhood) It was the backup baler to the 570 (575?) and came out on the odd day that they ran two balers. Wasn't unusual for us to put up 3,000 little squares in a day.

I had to look that 1120 up. 50 ponies, I bet that runs the 311 just fine.

The 1120 is a great small tractor. Made in Mannheim, Germany. The 1020 is basically the same machine, but with far less hydraulic power.

I built that 311 from a crashed baler........I might have some pics.

It was hit with a car. I used a chute and related parts from a JD baler.

    I guess it's a FrankenBaler.
