Cold front is coming thru here in the morning so I plan on splitting the rounds that have been on the ground a few months. I've already split the large rounds of the hickory but I still have all of the pin oak and it's about 18" at the base. I think I'll stack it where its at rather than bringing it near the house. The good thing is both are next to the driveway.
Cool around here for the next week but it won't be good for working with wood. Rain makes working outside not nice
No rain here, I think it's all north of Indy. Looks like some will come thru here tonight and in the morning, if it does and it's not windy I might burn some brush piles I got steroid injections in my lower back yesterday and I'll be a ball of fire for 4 to 6 weeks.
No rain last night and none predicted for today with a high near 70. No burning today since it's a little dry and 10 to 15 mph wind predicted
That front is to hit here tonight. Looking forward to it, too!! I have a mountain of wood to process, waiting for fall to do it. It's my 5 and 6 year wood.....so no big hurry!
It's great! We got a whole .2" of rain last night but today is great. Mostly cloudy and windy with the temperature 64.
Got about 1 1/2 inches of rain yesterday and a cool down 59 degrees now and the air is off. Heading out soon to work a log pile for an old couple.
I didn't get as much done as I had hoped but not because I didn't try. I got about 2/3 rds of the hickory split and blew the hp hydraulic hose on the splitter. I went to the pin oak and staged it in a way it's in the shade and out of the way of the mowing path along the driveway. I loaded the smalls and uglies and got a decent truck load and this evening had my grandsons help unload as I was stacking. Funny thing happened yesterday as I was sitting on the tailgate taking a break. I was looking at a low hanging branch on an ash next to the driveway and thinking I need to bring my polesaw down to cut it off. As I was sitting there the branch broke off the tree completely and fell on the driveway, this was a live branch!
I've got a dead poplar at the corner of my property that is way too sketchy with widowmakers for me to cut down. Mind stopping over a minute to have a LOOK?
