Nice!! I never order Scallops, but my wife does. On occasion I like them when i try hers. Its probably the times she unwittingly gets the plugs considering my sophisticated tastes.

The places we get scallops at wouldn't dare try fakes too many folks used to buy them off the boat and are old timers. They would be before a judge fast.

I'm not sure that is an issue up here. Like STB said, too many locals know the real thing.

I guess we were on one edge of a dying storm line. We used to buy scallops off the dragger by the gallon and freeze them, I used to freeze a few large mackerels for winter use my grand mother salted fish. Preserving things for the off season was done by a lot of folks, no going to the store whenever the urge struck.

My older desk top computer had a sudden death. I had recently moved it to the new room that was our porch. I poked around a bit. consulted with Best Buy. determined it was either the power supply or the motherboard. Got a new power supply but was not able to line up the plug ins right. My hands have arthritis. I tried real hard, but gave up and went to Best Buy. The geek man there put it in with one try. Brought it home and put the screws back in and fired it up. Bingo! back up and running.
I try hard but sometimes my hands just don't cooperate. Arthritis and tremor doesn't give a steady hand. Best Buy Geeks were really nice to me. Didn't charge me anything for their help.

Good on the Best Buy Geeks, I don't have either the arti or the tremors but it cost me a full morning to install a hard drive, something that should have been a five minute job. Left hand and small screws did not want to get along.

    Not even thinking about stoves.

Today 100 F and then 105 F to 108 F until the weekend and then a slow cooling trend :(:(

AC is dealing with the heat, and at least we have low humidity with it.

    Arrrrrrrgh.

Much easier to turn up the stove as opposed to trying to get rid of the heat.

went to CAMA (Connecticut Antique Machinery Association) in Kent, CT on Sunday to pick up a Ruston one cylinder horizontal engine they had there and were not going to use. The flywheel and crankshaft were removed 10 years ago to move it to Kent, and thus needed separate transport. The flywheel was estimated to weigh 7000 lbs, plus the 8 foot crankshaft and clutch pulley assembly. Here that is on my drop deck trailer after I unstrapped it.

We are going to cut a 6' square out of the floor in the new building (to the right in the pic) to pour the foundation for the engine. we've got some work to do as the head has a crack and the crank needs to be separated from the clutch pulley and flywheel to be cleaned/polished and straightened. Below is what it will look like when we get it back together. Way cool piece!:thumbs:

finished up another project for the museum last night. We had a donation last year of a home made tractor based on an article in Popular Mechanics in the 1950's. i'll post a pic of the tractor when we get it back together.

this was my first ford Model A engine rebuild, and proved to be somewhat difficult. We had to cast weld the block to repair freeze damage, replace the head for the same reason, replace the flywheel for cracks, bore the engine for .062 pistons, replace valves and install adjustable lifters. Then we needed to open the piston wrist pins .005 to accommodate the larger wrist pins in the engine. one difficulty after another, but it's done.

Pretty strong boomer around 4:00 PM. What a light show on the ride home. Got some rain that watered the garden for us. Less muggy too. :)

How do we tell the difference here in the inland? Sometimes I get some sand grains, other times not, does that indicate anything?

59ºF this AM, Had to use heated defrost to clear the windows. Heavy fog in the valley slowed the ride in.
