Half of the neighbor's tree down. At least it is only a few feet from my wood piles, and my fence broke it's fall.
Too bad about the nice looking tree down....but AWESOME on the nice looking tree that you're fixin' to get on your wood pile! Hopefully the fence didn't get too jacked up-

Too bad, but a good direction for the landing. Will the remainder be safe enough to leave or must it come down also? Can't really ID the tree (with these eyes anyway). Has the clean up started yet? (Pics please)
Section of fence is flat, not sure how bad yet. Not super worried about it as it should not be hard to fix. Ash tree. The entire tree needed to come down for years, you can see the rot in the crotch area. Not an expert, but I don't think it's a true hazard, but will hit his house if it falls. Trying to help him find an arborist to remove the rest. Great guy, he feels bad that it happened and said he would get going on cleaning it up (recip saw). Told him not to worry and I would get it taken care of asap, this weekend. I will haul the brush out to my friend Lefty's brush pile as time permits, unless he gets the rest down quick enough, as I'll have them chip the brush from this limb.
It might be a box elder. The leaves and growth pattern look like it anyway. And that whole tree should come down, judging from the dead branches on the 'still-standing' part. Good luck with that mess.
Yeah - given the dead branches up high in that last picture, i should be taken down. Only real reson to leave it, is if it casts shade on the back deck. If so, then try to get the dead branches out and life with is as long as it stands.
More wood for you! Good on you to offer cleaning that up for him. He probably has no idea the work involved in doing this.
Yep kind of looks like an ash tree to me also. Congrats on the wood. Nothing like free BTU's from the neighbor.
Totally off topic: Hey, I just noticed that you live where I do my on-line banking, at FNBO. I live many hundreds of miles away but they are one of the few banks with slightly better interest rates for deposits than most places.
