Aaarrrghh fire season is upon us! Im praying that there will be no large fires here in oregon this year. 2015 was a bad summer for us, i dont want a repeat.
Until today it has been pretty darned dry here for two weeks. Dry and hot enough to bake the lawn brown anywhere there is no shade. Garden was pretty dry for a foot any place not irrigated . We might get an inch today and that puts a damper on fire fuels. Forest fire smell can travel quite a distance when the wind is right.
It looks as though the fire is 100% contained according to local news there. The forest has alot of sandy fire roads throughout - an area i used to take the jeep.
I see where Michigan has sent a bunch of people out west to fight fires. Most are going to British Columbia but some also Montana.
Hey guys sorry just saw this. Haven't been on much recently. Thanks for the concern. That was a pretty good fire. It burned around 3500 acres when all was said and done. It was only a few miles away as the crow flies but thankfully there was little to no wind so they were able to contain it fairly quickly. Here's a few shots from my porch and one from my buddy's place. Hope all is well with everyone!
Thanks WW. We're all good. Thankfully my place is pretty much surrounded by cranberry bogs and blueberry fields that are all irrigated. If fire ever gets close enough the water will be on and we'll just worry about airborne embers. I've always got a plan ready. Backwoods Savage I'll try to stop to stop in more often.
