oh its great to have friends... dear friends run a rescue farm for abused animals.. give city kids chance for fresh air etc etc.. well 2 days without rain and I went up to help them bale hay.. 600 bales about 50 pounds apiece... kind of like firewood got to be dry.. got to move each 1 at least 5 times to get it where it needs to be... no gym needed this week.. Goin back to finish last 400 today

unfortunately kind heartedness does not pay much as they really need hay wagons ... pickin these up w pick up trucks and trailers suck...

The last of the delivered oak for 2018-19 was put on a new rack. Older maple rounds were split and stacked on top of the oak. These were from a neighbor. I'll top cover this as some of the maple is punky. Maybe a face cord here.

Haying just sux...period. Many of the local farms here have gone to round bales and/or large squares...either way, much less hands on labor!

My kid is making 12.00/hr putting up square bales. Farmer said it's almost impossible to find kids willing to do physical work.

$12, no kidding! Much more than I was making back in the day.
I grew up on a farm (read: slave labor) and then worked for a neighbor too. One time he hired a couple kids I went to school with to help with hay...they fancied themselves big ole football studs...but a few hours throwing bales put a whoopin on 'em

I've got a old beer fridge that won't go down beyond 45 or so, so I put a controller on it and it works perfect... instead of pitching it... Good Luck!

Yeah, I can't lift the large squares either...maybe a pic is in order here in case people aren't familiar...these aren't the 50-80# bales that most people think of as a classic hay bale. Probably more like 800-1000#

Theys looking at ya like that because frequent Menards shoppers know they have wipers for free (after rebate) about every 6-8 weeks seems like. :p
My brother called me a few weeks back to ask if I needed any wipers. He was getting ready to make a parts order with an automotive parts distributor that they deal with and they had wipers on sale for $1.99 ea. I said nah, I get 'em for way less than that. He says what?! I told him about the Menards deal...not sure if he made a wiper order from his guy then or not...

I get there maybe twice a year. I have seen that advertised before but I hate buying blades anywhere. The wife goes through them pretty fast because her daily commute is a good distance.

I'm not complaining  that's a good price considering basic blades are $7 and up anymore. I stopped buying the Walmart blades because the flew apart ( and I mean APART twice :picard: ) so there $3.99 blades are not going on my vehicles again.

This morning was a bad morning. The sink got a decent hole in it and made a HUGE flood in the cabinets so we went sink hunting for the kitchen. I am done epoxyimg that cheap sink.

New sink, disposal and strainers now I've gotta figure out the drains I want brass not that stupid plastic this time.

$12 per hour? In my day we got $3 for the day of putting up hay. I believe tractor driving was $5.
We were served a good lunch and supper was like a Thanksgiving feast. To a bunch of young teens, the supper was the highlight of the day.

Dave, perhaps you can enlighten me on this one. Why is it that the hay always had to be put up on the weekends? I hated that when I was a kid. I never really minded putting up hay except for Saturdays because come night time, you were so tired you couldn't play as hard.
