Don't let 'em dissuade you from this. It's a necessary evil......but someone's gotta' keep the rest of us safe.
Those are usually a days long process, requiring multiple inspections. I know, I've done it, and gotten quite gooder at it.

We made a quick trip to Mom's yesterday afternoon to get the grass cut before our couple of days of rain. Well, it was suppose to be a quick trip but the regular ferry is back and the traffic is busy so the ferry was running 1 hour behind. We have been promised a new ferry with more capacity but it is still 2 years away. Summer is such a busy time for travelers.

So we woke up to rain this morning. Not a downpour just a gentle rain. I really hope this moves into the interior of the province as there is 37,000 people displaced from their homes due to wildfire hazard. Most of BC is tinder dry this summer and the hot, dry weather is usually in August.

You saw that we have lots of blackberries and raspberries here. This is one of those rare years when the blackberries don't all dry up. They are loaded! Not sure how many raspberries we've got but lots and Judy is still picking. We're to the point where we want to give some away now just so we don't have to pick.

btw, if you come again next spring, let me know ahead of time as I plan on taking out a bunch of raspberry bushes if nobody wants them.

Do you still have rhubarb to make raspberry and rhubarb pie? We had some and it is delicious. I think it is better than strawberry and rhubarb.

Sad but our rhubarb passed away. For some reason or another we are having a problem growing it here on this yellow sand. But, I like raspberry pie with just the raspberries and the same when I have rhubarb pie; just the rhubarb.

Whoopee! GTG at Dennis's? Last I heard the decision was not made yet.
Reserve me some berry plants. I got a few berries off one of the plants you gave me this spring. The way I understand berry production is the first year you get growth shoots and the second year the growth shoots become producers and then they die. Cut this years producing canes out in the fall/winter. Pie next year.

My daughter is working in a local scoop shop, she gets to bring home the last little bit of the bucket that is deemed unsaleable, usually close to a pint. It's a gourmet type shop that makes their own, they get $11/pint, something like 18% fat, some pretty weird flavors, ginger, kulfi, mango habanero, chocolate chili, I haven't tried em all yet but I'm working on it:D, been doing a lot of extra hiking.

Well, almost. They say to cut the dead canes out in the fall. Yet, we usually end up cutting them out in the spring when you are doing the regular pruning. But you don't cut out the producing canes!!!
