I didn't know there was such a thing but ,I got a Surplus money check in the mail for 498 smackers . Now I don't know what I'm going to do with it
And where did the random Surplus check originate? Just in case the rest of us can start looking for surplus checks too? However, if it came from a Nigerian prince offering to split future millions, I'll pass on that opportunity...
I was sitting on the couch being nice and comfy, in the air conditioning, didn't want to go anywhere so, I decided to try out the Credit Union app, it takes a picture of the front and back of the check and deposits it into your account, worked real slick. Surplus escrow
Ah. Hang onto some of it in case there's a shortage next time. So, it's not taxable, since it was your money to begin with.......so there's that. And, no Nigerians were harmed in the process.
Well , I was conservative , decided it was time to rebar my Hsq 55 from 3/8 20" to .325 Ordered a 16" narrow kerf bar , couple chains and another chain for the Hsq 445
In my teens when I got my first part-time job and I was counting the measly dollars from it, plans were hatched what to buy. Police radio, oscilloscope, bicycle tires, etc. My father saw me counting & planning. He said "That's not your money, it's just passing through your hands". (I thought WTH, I worked for it, should do whatever I want with it). He explained that any current or future NEEDS will eat the paychecks - college, car insurance, clothes, shoes. Not for wants like toys or fun. It's not your money Gark, just passing through your hands. Darned if he wasn't right.
Your dad called you Gark? Your dad was a smart man! (not because he called your Gark...), because he was absolutely right! We call it exchange day.
There is what is called unclaimed $ and often it has a lot to do with checks you haven't cashed from dividends or stock options. Sometimes they are small amounts but multiple checks. There is a website to claim them. Just google unclaimed money and it just requires your SS# and name. Very professional site and lists them, you'd be surprised!
