It was 64f this morning so I went out to do some bush whackin' and trimming and just had the urge to split! We've had a ton of rain the last two days and everything is soaked. Even some terrible flooding near by I had to work in Thursday into Friday Currently 73f with 98% humidity on the weather stationall that water in the air makes crazy things happen like going vertical! Managed to split up an ash tree from Memorial Day I took down at home just under a half cord ready to stack and about the same split in quarters. That was enough for the morning way to humid and way to much sweat...
Whoa! That's a lot of water! Fortunately pretty much all of those storms missed us but it was not very far from us. Going vertical makes sense!
Yeah tons of water! Unfortunately a lot of people lost a lot of things, but no injuries that I heard of at least. Good to hear it missed you guys doesn't sound like you needed anymore rain yourself. As for vertical splitting I thought that might get your attention
Yeah, you can do it standing up...or laying down! This sounds like one of those T-shirts..."wood splitters do it lying down"
That's some nice ash! That's unfortunate with the flooding. I feel like I should start building an Ark!!I honestly can't remember too many years rainier than this one.
Yeah I stuck it on there last year (Tsc thanksgiving week deal for $65 ) when I was working some mega rounds. It skids them to the splitter and then picks them up a touch so I use my foot to spin and adjust the round into place then I set it down and split. Most of the time I only go vertical to quarter bigger stuff then go back horizontal to split the quarters to firewood size. Have to get a video of it in action. I just ran some wire out with clips and slap them on the tractor battery, which the splitter MUST stay hooked too
