Got This Bill in the Mail Yesterday! !

Mother Frukin, Cork Shuckin' Bassterds...Came on Sunday and filled my Propane tank!! I wasn't home but knew they came, suppposed to be on the call to fill program. Notice the $131.00, that was tank rental since we haven't filled in over two years. Paid it and the Biatches came and filled

 

Dang! You guys are getting hosed!! I just got mine filled (again) for 2.99 I would be out shopping for a different supplier.
My first fill was at 2.69

Propane is high profile right now. If you were on a deliver when you call program, it's obvious that they're trying to take advantage of a bad situation with the ongoing shortage. It would be very easy to prove that they're only supposed to deliver when you call since they haven't been there to fill the tank in 2 years. Assuming you're not going to get far with the company, be ready to work with the BBB and state Attorney General's office. I would think the sooner you write a letter to the attorney general, the better. Tell the Attorney General that the delivery to your house will help to support the high price of propane and cause others to be left with cold houses. Also be ready to present your case to the the credit reporting bureaus as Amerigas will try to ruin your credit (assuming they have your ssn).

I use propane for my gas grill and the stove in my house so we use a 20lbs refillable cylinder for that. Given the price, I've instructed the wife to minimize the use of the propane stove and instead use one of these for routine cooking.

The propane will be for when we have a lot to cook (guests at the house) or a power outage.

 

Okay... I've got to laugh now. Says the following right on your bill:

"Tired of calling for propane? Enroll in automatic delivery and get our no run-out promise. Call your local office for details."

That sentence, my friend, is money in the bank..... Just make sure that you didn't sign anything or check a box when you sent the $131 payment that enrolled you in auto-delivery.

 

These crooks will do anything to make a few extra bucks. Randomly fill tanks at a random price......thieves. That would be like my pellet house dropping pellets in my driveway and charging $425. And with my luck they would be Infernos

 

damm !! I read of other companies such as Eastern Propane doing similar stunts with oil delivery a few years ago to a member of the old forum. That company hosed me 2-3 years ago when they did not deliver my 100 gallons on the day they said they would. They delivered many days later after the price jumped .25 per gallon and would not honor the old price. That was the last time I ever used them.

Difference here is I believe that propane can be pumped out of your tank where oil cannot? I may be wrong on this but if so, make them take it back.

 

Yes they can be emptied. I believe it is illegal to transport unless they are.

 

Thanks for the info Stuckinthemud...We've been fighting with these guys and Landmark for years! They can pump the propane out, I know this because when I wanted to give them their tank back and switch to 100 gallon tanks that I would purchase, they wanted to charge to empty the tank before they took it away.

 

They can travel full, they just try to avoid it because they need extra permits to transport it in a tank that is not permanently attached to the truck.

 

when I had a similar issue, I gave them a call and stated to them very calmly and deliberately;
Come and pick up your tank tomorrow before I get home from work at 4pm, if it is still there when I get home , I will use the tractor to put it at the bottom of the driveway for you to pick up.
Worked.

 

This happened to me this year, except I was technically still on auto fill. My company was awesome. They came and got my pig, didn't charge for the delivery. Then they set a new 120 gallon piglet. There was more than the 120 gallons in my original pig that was from previous year. They bought that extra back at current market rate, which was more than I even paid for it, and gave me an account credit for it.

The moral of the story....there is hope, see what they say.

Anybody that has to buy propane in SE Michigan should really check into Parkers Propane. They have been great.

 

You're welcome. It will take consumers like you to inform the lawmakers and business community that these business practices are unacceptable. Too many people just pay the bill and don't put up a fight. Too many also do not do research on a company before doing business with them. This is the company that owns the 100lbs propane tank at the house we bought a year ago.

Haven't talked to them yet and don't plan to call them or enter any kind of agreement with them. That is why I switched to a 20 lbs cylinder. When it comes time for their tank to go, a hand truck will do just fine. I won't need to borrow ironpony's tractor to drag their tank to the curb!!!!!
