Yeah, more common, yet similar with the architecture and sounds. The upgrades to the 5.0 with the motor and transmission alone might make me go that way.

    Vroom vroom!!

I just clocked off nearly 800 miles in a day with my Silverado. She didn't do bad at all but I was lightly loaded and pushing 75-80. Definitely paid a mpg penalty for that but adding a couple/few hours to an already long trip wasn't attractive either. I did notice the power drop off as we climbed to 3000+ ft elevations. Would have been interesting to try that with an EcoBoost truck and compare.

I notice the mileage drops over 70. I can pull a 6x14 trailer running 70 (stupid trailer tires are only speed rated for 65mph) and get the same mileage doing 80 with just the truck.

Horkn . o_O Dude. You started this thread and researching in March. So I didn't even read through the whole thread. But there is no more research to be done man. :faint:When are you going to pull the trigger? Have you been hanging around that Scotty Overkill guy lately?:picard::p

I've enjoyed following his thread from the beginning as it brought out all kinds of opinions from many different vantage points. Think of it as Horkn sitting around the fire pit with all of us and one night says he might be fixin' at gittin' himself a new pickup. And the next gathering one of us asks, hey, ya still thinkin' about a new truck? And so on and so forth.... That said, I have changed jobs, moved and bought/sold my house during this thread's progression!

I can't fault anybody for doing their due diligence on a major purchase like this however. Some folks put more thought into purchasing their next smartphone than their next car or even their home.

I don't know how anyone can hold out so long. When I make up my mind to buy a vehicle, I have it in my driveway by nightfall.

My guess would be is that he's waiting for 2018 models to hit the lots.

Lol. I totally overkill the research part.;). When I started looking, I knew that I wanted a 2018. Since the 2018's fords are just starting to be built, it's all good. I just plan on getting my 2018 sometime in 2017.

Horkn - are you planning on finding one on the lot? Or is it a big price difference to have them order one that you spec out?

Unless I go with a leftover 17, there won't be any price difference, from what I know. Now, as a Buyer as my profession, if they the me an offer that made a ton of sense, I would take it on a 17. But we'll see.

I've got the order sheets for the 18 MY f150s. With the craziness in my family the last few weeks, I've not even had the thought of working on the new truck.

I just bought the 4.6 in a Lexus and I consider it adequate...barely. HP wasn't a primary consideration for me though and it does get the job done.

We spent over 2 years looking for our first house, same with second house 21 years later, as well as the 99 F250 and 05 duramax. Seems to be worth it in all the above except the newest home.
