I don't have all I can cut but I am not finished with my logs. I am going to let him know what it was for. Its intention was to either be for me or to sell to help put my stove in in terms of cost. I have plans to set some that is part of the standing dead logs aside in case I go with the latter. At least they'll quick dry and be ready by January. I already had a small amount of locust. Probably about a 1/3 cord separate from this stuff.
The only folks who I'd be ok helping themselves to my stuff with no permission are blood relatives. Even then I'd expect a call before I get home and find it missing. It sounds to me like you might have opened yourself up for that to happen though. The sign with your number should not be on the stacks you're keeping. I'd suggest following fishingpol 's advise if you're planning to sell. Here's what's for sale, there's the price, payment goes in the box. If it was me, since I now have to track you down to get paid for the stuff you already took, we're going to be real clear about how it works in the future. The number was right there. I should have gotten a call from you, not my neighbor.
You're right about that, I just have my phone number on the flyer and now I am thinking I should move this wood and start new. He should have called me the sign faces the mailboxes and in plain view and the time my neighbors texted me was still perfect daylight. Now Im just starting with this and none of this wood is paid for, I believe the trespassing is what I am more angry about than the wood. Wood grows on trees, and I was concerned about leaving the wood in the first place and followed my instincts. If my neighbors didn't call me, I wouldn't have known until it was too late. Having the address and number to chase him down is ok but it limits to put me in an awkward spot with people.
