    Well

I have the itch for another saw..

    I currently mainly use a MS290 with a 20"
I simply cut firewood and am wanting a smaller saw with a 16-18" bar.

Really interested in the MMWS Jonsered 2252 in the classifieds.

    What is your input?
Ive simply only owned the Stihl other then a few cheapie saws which arent worth mentioning.
I dont prefer a specific brand but have been interested in finding a Jonsered saw for a little while now.
I hear alot of good about them.

    Thanks for the help!
I know i came to the right place for help on this subject.

    Thanks again
    -Sean

Just so you know up front, if you get a ported 2252, you'll likely be putting your 290 up for sale...

A ported or stock 2252 makes for a nice small fire wooding saw.

When I decided the old 029 was too heavy and needed replaced with something small and light weight, I went with the 241. Perfect firewood saw for me. I cut a lot of tops after logging. I had a 362 fall in my lap also, it's good for the bigger stuff.
You will be happy with the small CC saw!

If you're used to Stihl it's worth noting the outboard clutch on the 2252 may take some getting used to. Great little saw for sure though!

I really liked the 241 I had. Good power nice weight, but there's a reason I never let TurboDiesel pick up my echo 490... :p

I have an 18" bar on my 026 that I just mentioned and it pulls it quite well!

my 2 cents.. first my Lil pet peeve.. your talking about saw size and referring to bar length... 16 to 18 is bar length... saw power should be measured by cc... don't take it wrong LinkedXJ lots of guys do it... iirc.. your an auto guy.. it's equivalent to meaning a 3/4 ton truck and giving tire size instead of liters

so your talking about 50 cc saws.. I have run many.. husky Stihl jonsered. .. big differences between Stihl and others is outboard clutch..
as for that 2252.. it's had a motor job by one of the best in the business.. he tweaks so they are work saws ... much like cars work trucks are meant to start and work and get job done.. race cars are meant to start run for a race and be worked on... ie get a work saw..

I live on border high today a sweltering 72.. if that 2252 had heated handles I would own it already!

I ran that 2252 2 days ago, I might regret selling it.

It will put your 290 on CL and have you searching for your next ported saw.

So light and easy on the arms. Brand new I'd be looking at the Dolmar series as an alternative to mine as it's a good bang for the buck.

Sean you really did not mention why you wanted the smaller saw. Weight? We run the 290 with a 16" bar but also have a 20" for it. Here is some I cut this morning with the 16" bar.

I too wanted a lighter saw for cutting the small stuff and believe it or not bought a Stihl 180 and love it. I am amazed at what that little saw can do and it is really light weight.

I guess im simply after an additional saw that is reliable that i can run a 16-18" bar on when i dont need my 20" bar.
Not wanting to change bars on 1 saw when i need a shorter bar versus a longer bar.

Your amazed with your 180, im blown away by what ive done with my 290. lol
